For such a big city, i am surprised there are no decent swingers clubs in Manchester.
There was one just off deansgate (zandu i think), i remember my partner and i excitedly going, walking in and just seeing 1 or two older chubby women, and lots of single chubby old men. It put us off so we promptly walked away.

What clubs have you tried to come out with such a statement.
We have found a few good clubs around Manchester who cater for everyone.
Some are to our liking and others not so much but hey thats personal choice.
We are sure if you tried a few you would find at the very least 1 that did not have "fat people in"
we note that your profile says you have not yet found anyone to swing with so maybe it might be time to look at your own attitudes as some things are far more ugly to many people that maybe being a bit overweight.

The first and simple one is, as with all businesses - supply and demand - if a club could make a reasonable profit there would be more.
Planning permission, perhaps it is not easy to get the planning permission, this is a problem around the country, very difficult in areas of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland but also in many areas of the UK
Opening clubs in the City can be expensive, higher rates and higher building costs/rents, a swinging club is the kind of venue people will travel to, its not the local pub or nightclub, so many owners go for the outskirts of major cities, Darlaston, West Bromwich, Walsall near to Birmingham, just outside Leicester, on the fringe of Manchester and Leeds where such costs are generally lower.
Swinging clubs are for sex, the sex industry is often targetted by the Major Crime syndicates, open in London or Manchester for example and you may well be asked to "use certain door staff" or get your insurance from a certain place.

Xanadu has actually been closed for several years now, and while I'd agree with the OP that it was a dump of a club, it had nothing to do with the real swingers I saw in there, albeit very few. I went to the club twice, in both cases the jacuzzi was broken but on the 2nd occasion a girl who was dancing alone stared to dance in front of me before inviting me to a private room, before then asking for money, clearly not a swinger club in my mind and no loss whatsoever to the world of swinging. As you have posted recently though, maybe your interested in looking at Swinging clubs close to Manchester again. The club reviews page both on this site and other similar sites give you an insight to many clubs round the UK and Manchester.
take your pick from Adam & Eves in Eccles (10 mins from city center), Cupids in Swinton (also about 10 minutes). Further afield theres Partners in Bury (about 20minutes away and Liaisons in Rochdale say about 30 minutes away. All have there own different qualities, all are worth a visit and I would say all are good clubs depending on your own individual tatstes. In each case the best nights are most likely Friday & saturday, but take your pick, try them all out maybe and post your comments back here maybe answering your own question.

The reason i said this is i have looked for a few, looked at reviews but then not really visited any since Xanadus.
Because of my partner, she likes to ensure her first experience of anything is the best she will have so she will do it again. So we hang on reviews then take it from there.
Saying that i cant honestly say i have seen an add for one actually in Manchester, as opposed to Greater manchester or Lancashire.

I agree bringing up xanadu's a few years after its closed is a bit odd..
BUT there is an expalnation.. we originally came onto SH many years ago and thats when we experienced it. Then we stopped the swing scne for quite some time, then have come back looking for experiences.
Also i find the forum frustrating because we never get notified of responses to topics we responded to :S

I live in Manchester (as you might guess from the name... ), and the best venues are slightly out of the city centre - for the reasons already listed.
Please don't be put off by your experience of Xanadu. I went there a few times about 10 years ago, but it was dire, and as soon as I discovered the better venues I never went back.
My personal favourite is Cupids, where I've been a member now for over 12 years. The club is under new management too, and is being done up - very nicely, I may add.
I suggest you read the club reviews on this site (the clubs' own web pages as well as SH member reviews) and decide which one sounds best for you. Then give them a ring and ask the staff what's a good night (and a good time) to go, so they can show you round & talk you through what goes on, the do's and the don'ts.
I really hope you DO dip your toes back in the scene - it would be a terrible shame to be put off by one (typically awful) visit to a very sleazy club.
Come back on here & let us know how you get on...
