I always think fancy dress/themed is a great idea.... it gives me an excuse to buy new clothes!!!

I voted for fancy dress. I think a specific theme makes it a bit restrictive and some people might not like the theme, but I guess as long as that bit is voluntary people should be happy. Any fancy dress give people a big scope to do as much or as little as they feel comfortable with.

I went for normal dress as well. Fancy dress is fine for a group that have already met or are comfortable with each other but for the shy nervous newcomer it can be a bit daunting. They have enough to contend with just walking through the door without the added pressure of looking like a complete dipstick.
