JuniperCouple, I really do understand your concerns but if you want to speak to me about this, then please do so.
I can assure you all, it was only after a long discussion with SHMeditor that I agreed to this, but I will also say, that if this is causing anyone any real concern, then please let me know, either on here, or via pm if you prefer.
The people on the original list for this munch do take preference and if necessary, I will explain to SHMeditor that she is not able to attend. I dont want people cancelling, or feeling concerned over this, so please do let me know.

In fairness FB are they cancelling for this reason or other reasons dunno

only they can say.
I did have concerns but aired them in a pm. I feel totally comfortable with them attending now it has been explained.

Firstly, can I say that I have taken on board everything that everyone has said, and still do feel that you do not have anything to worry about by allowing SHMeditor to attend. There was no intention of any photos being taken, any interviews taking place, or anyone being 'quoted' as saying this, that or the other.
HOWEVER, you the members, my friends, the munchers, come first, and if you dont feel comfortable with this then it wont happen.
I have therefore sent a message to SHMeditor explaining that I dont think she should attend this munch.
Thanks for all your pm's, your support and for being so honest about it all. I am also sorry if this has caused any concern for anyone.

I am sure we are all wary and sceptical of this turn of events. Knowing Mrs NWC as well as we do, we implicently trust her judgement in a situation like this. Dont forget, if we feel threatened by the presence of these people, how does Mrs NWC feel, she has put her neck on the line trusting these people. What ever the threat might be for members to feel wary of, Mrs and Mr NWC have the same threat levelled at them.
Annie is there to help promote our activities. Besides what is there to be afraid of, under munch rules we are not allowed to participate in our unusual activities and cameras are not allowed. Maybe we should frisk her for hidden cameras if it makes everyone feel more comfortable, and of course, i happily volunteer to do that. wink

Right, anybody else wants use of the soapbox?

We understand everyones worries but sorry they did not trust MRS NWC more.
Hope we dont get in trouble for saying this but this is how we feel and apologise if anyone is annoyed by this but stand by it.

I agree HnH, could be for other reasons - I only know about those who have mentioned it to me via PM, who don't want to draw attention to themselves by asking questions.
I don't have a problem; I was satisified that NWC would have asked many questions before deciding to allow the 'guests' to attend, and I've said as much in PM to concerned parties.
I do think there are probably more people who are feeling the same way though - they don't want to be seen to be questioning what's happening.

okay... read what is going on and decided to have my 2 cents worth....
I really don't see what the concern is, and I think it is beginning to be blown out of all proportion, if that is beginning to scare people into not going to what i am sure will be as good a wigan munch as all of the others,then what is it achieving???
i just wanted to quote the 3 paragrahs in the middle of NWC's announcement

Now if there were there taking interviews, pictures that would be a different matter, but if they are just there getting opinions as to what to put in the magazine then I don't see what the problem is...
Some people can articulate themselves better in person than they can in a thread, and if this gives them people a chance to do that then I hope they take advantage of that oppotunity to do speak one to one with them
If they are not going to be approaching anyone who doesn't want to be approached then to be honest all you have to say is "thank you... but no thank you"
after all....unless you look at the badges just how you going to tell the difference between them and any other newbie who is attending there first munch??????

go back to lilacgems thread about not wanting to go the munches again because of one person, didn't most of the people support her and tell her to keep going regardless, and not to let other people dictate what she decided to attend or not......
what is the difference in this case? I don't see it.....

I posted in this thread with regards to our concerns, i really did not think that it had to be done or was so private to be a pm. In fact, i would go as far as to say, i voiced concerns of quite a few.
I also said in that thread that i was sure you would have made enquiries, so it was not meant personal to yourself, merely stating that we had doubts, just like you did at first and also to question who the other person was.
If my posting offended you NWC, we truly are sorry, it was no slight on yourself at all.....
As for what dirtyduo are saying; this is not to do with not trusting mrs NWC - it is to do with airing our own doubts about this matter, i too take offence to what you said but i refuse to get in to that argument !!!

I don't like the idea of being in a goldfish bowl, regardless of whether or not they will be doing interviews/photo's.
If I wanted to be watched or talk to someone about this lifestyle I would do it on my terms at a time convenient to me. I don't want it to be when I'm out enjoying myself with friends.
I know they won't approach anyone that doesn't want to be, but with so many new faces at munches, who's to say who you are talking to, will they wear a badge that says SH Press so you can avoid them?
Saying that I haven't made a decision yet and have pm'd NWC to discuss it further.
Maybe this can be split from the original munch thread so people can discuss it properly without detracting from the munch??

Can I just say that NWC has really tried to get things right for this munch.
By attempting to help SHM be as true to the SH lifestyle as possible, she has so it seems, upset a few members which was never an intention.
