If you don't make an effort, neither will anyone else. You have to give them something more than 'Hi' to make them think you're the guy they are happy to meet. Why should they open up to you if you don't open up to them?
Nobody is expecting you to give your full name address, telephone number, reference from your boss, etc, etc, but surely you can give them some details of likes, dislikes, give them a taste of your sense of humour, that sort of thing.
Would you buy a car where the description said "blue car for sale" - and that was it?
