I can't remember the first but the most memorable single I bought was "Last Christmas" by Wham, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh George Michael. My wet dreams soon dried up when I found out he was gay!!
My first single was Sugar Sugar by the Archies.
My first album, which I still have, was Queen's Night At The Opera.
The first one I can remember buying was Cottonfields by the Beach Boys!
First single I ever owned was Billy Connollys version of D.I.V.O.R.C.E but that doesnt count as it was given to me with my first portable record player ( you know the kind that held a stack of six singles and had the speaker built into the lid) .
The first time I ever bought a single myself , I actually bought two so I guess they both count , first one was Stranglers ' Peaches' and the other was an imported 12" pink vinyl version of Edwin Starr's 'Contact' . So I claim the rightful title of Eclectic Musical Taste .

my first record was "Zambesi" by Lou Bush = a Vynil 78rmp.
Made it ti No 2 in the Hit Parade at that time (1956).
Played it, put it on a chair and my Mam sat on it = Pocket money gone lol
Medic1 (Fred) the other one.
Well the first one I ever bought was a present for my Dad....... Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass
Abba were good for thier time, and so were the Beach Boys. You can all deny it, but I`ll bet most of you sing along when it comes on the radio!

It was either 'Jeepster' by Trex, or a record from about the same time called 'Run Baby Run' but I'm stumped as to who the artist was.
First album was 'Slade Live' which is still up in the loft.
