Might be even worse than that - it could be ABBA!
I can't remember the first but the most memorable single I bought was "Last Christmas" by Wham, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh George Michael. My wet dreams soon dried up when I found out he was gay!!
My first single was Sugar Sugar by the Archies.
My first album, which I still have, was Queen's Night At The Opera.
The first one I can remember buying was Cottonfields by the Beach Boys!

My first single (showing my age now, lol) was Mull of Kintyre by Paul McCartney and I was a lot later buying my first album which was The Smiths. Mr ccr's was Devilgate Drive by Suzi Quatro and his first album was A Night At The Opera by Queen (I see a little silohouetto of a man..scaramouche..scaramouche..will you do the fandango.....) biggrin
ccr xxxx
First single I ever owned was Billy Connollys version of D.I.V.O.R.C.E but that doesnt count as it was given to me with my first portable record player ( you know the kind that held a stack of six singles and had the speaker built into the lid) .
The first time I ever bought a single myself , I actually bought two so I guess they both count , first one was Stranglers ' Peaches' and the other was an imported 12" pink vinyl version of Edwin Starr's 'Contact' . So I claim the rightful title of Eclectic Musical Taste .

Hi All,
I've been 'lurking' on the site for a week or so now (nicely, of course smile ) but this thread has prompted me to register.
My first single was 'Mr Blue Sky' by ELO - but I really wish it had been 'Whole Lotta Rosie' by AC/DC or better still (if it had ever been released) 'Black Dog' by Led Zeppelin which just has the best lyrics. If I can just quote messrs Page and Plant "Hey, hey, baby, when you walk that way, watch your honey drip, can't keep away. "
And if anyone hasn't heard it and wants to, just ask (here or PM me) and I'll post a link so you can play it on Windows Media Player
biggrin
Yep..I seem to recall quite vividly..........
Walking on the moon - The Police!!!! biggrin
i had the muppet show album bought for me but i don't think that counts....
mind you...still get it out sometimes... classic....
the first single i bought with my own money... roland rat... rat rapping... hey i was only 8 1/2!!!! biggrin :D :D too young to know better!!!!!

Well the first one I ever bought was a present for my Dad....... Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass

Abba were good for thier time, and so were the Beach Boys. You can all deny it, but I`ll bet most of you sing along when it comes on the radio!

It was either 'Jeepster' by Trex, or a record from about the same time called 'Run Baby Run' but I'm stumped as to who the artist was.
First album was 'Slade Live' which is still up in the loft.
