The government yesterday announced that they are looking into suspending the 2p fuel duty in october is this a gimmick or a move to help out suffering families?.....will the suspension of the 2p in the autumn stop the increasing prices of petrol already affecting everyone
Well 2p a litre on a 70+ litre full up makes a big difference when buying fuel regularly...
thou fuel tax is high in this country it is not the real reason for the current increase in cost..and the future increases you will soon see. the fact is under current consumption levels it is estimated that there is basically 25 years of oil left in the Middle East. The Princes in Saudi Arabia are concerned what they are going to do for income, as this oil supply dwindles. So they reduceing, the output, ( at the moment by 20% ) but increasing the price. Therefore they make the same revenue from less production, but also will then mean reserves and supply last longer. in other words they make the same obscene profit for longer. We best get used to it, this will only get worse !!
the only way out of this is for someone to come up with a viable alternative fuel source.
We'll buy oil from somewhere other than the middle east..
They dont hold a monopoly on it....
Watched a programme about a week ago and there are oil fields all over the world that have yet to be tapped into so the middle east could price themselves out of the market if they get too greedy..
Petrol prices are seriously hurting me at the moment(running 2 cars that drink it for fun)i reckon its costing me between £10-£15 extra per week.
When i bought my newer 1 of the 2 about 3 yrs ago i went for a diesel car based on fuel consumption and reliability when diesel was 93p a ltr now i am paying a ltr about a 45% increase in 3 yrs yet my salary has gone up about 12% somehow the sums don't add up, to the point i am now considering going to 1 car as i reckon this will save me circa £25oo pa ,i can think of a lot of things i would rather spend the money on.

Mr Saralou
u save more than that , what with car tax mot insurance wear n tear of tyres
The Government could solve the high petrol prices overnight. All they have to do is reduce the 84% tax on the stuff.
Just think that at per litre of diesel goes straight into the Chancellor of the Exchequer's sweaty mitt.
2p or not 2p? There was me thinking of the little group of bushes that I find hard to pass without stopping when we've had a night at the local pub. It's obviously psychological.
