Blimey - what a load of good memories...I used to DJ at a Blitz/New Romantic club in the 80s so I've got loads of stuff from then.

Aaah the new romantic era, Adam and the Ants was the look wasn't it? correct me if I'm wrong, was it the long frilly sleeves and general attire that gave the new romantic it's name.
Can anyone remember "the Hitman and Her" usually on a Friday night back late 80's early 90's?? cool
Hitman and Her!! LOL - I used to watch this when I came back from clubbing, much the worse for wear and usually with a kebab in hand (or down my shirt)...what was that awful "on the pull" game they used to play? And the endless drivel talk from the girls loo as well? Michaela Strachan....whatever happened to her? Do you also remember Clive (the black dancer that used to wear the day-glo wigs)?
And yes, frilly shirts....lots of tartan (or black in the latter period), wedge blond haircuts with a crimson section underneath for blokes, fan earrings, the dance where you held hands and air-kissed as you lifted your knees across each other's waists, dancing on your own in front of the best mirror on the dancefloor whilst sucking your lips in....do I remember more than is considered healthy?
<sings> "Yes, ah remember eet well" </sings>

No but I remember watching it one weekend with my pals, .. and there on the dance floor strutting his stuff like Rik Astley was my ex boyfriend! and to make matters worse he couldn't dance when we were together but he had taken dance lessons since! haha
loved the early 80's music like madness, the jam, blomdie, roxy music, the specials and all that 2 tone stuff and so many others but as for the 80's after 86 well words fail me complete boll*x most of it and its gone downhill ever since but each to there own i guess just go get ya ears syringed lol .anyhoo as for covers of the 80's i liked siouxsie and the banshees version of dear prudence and also the far corporations version of stairway to heaven
I dont know where to start with 80's bands there were so many good ones. Some that suck around some that didn't but if we are talking cover versions then for me

Very strange. Countess and I were only talking about this yesterday. confused
Just outside the 80's, but Placebos version of Dapeche Modes I Feel You is great as well.
I'm also a Marilyn Manson fan and his cover of Depeche Modes Own Personal Jesus rocks as does his version of Tainted Love by Soft Cell (which is also a cover. The original was by Gloria Jones, Marc Bolans Mrs.). Not too sure about his cover of Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics though.
