A meet for Forum posters?

Another recent thread has made me think. Would it be a good thing if there was a Social event where regular posters to the Forum could meet and "put a face to the name". I did try this with another site that I belonged to some years ago and the main problem was that those involved were from all parts of the country (and on that site some overseas) so the idea was abandoned.
At the moment, I'm about 60/40 against meeting up, sometimes it's better to imagine people by their virtual persona, but if enough were interested I might change my mind. How do you regular posters feel if something was organised in say Central England?
Plim confused:
PS I tried to add a Poll to this thread, but the system rejected it. Plim
somewhere here.

I'd consider it if it was in London and within crawling distance of the Northern Line.

Hardly central England Brucie, whatever Londoners might think!
I'd love to meet other forumites. Please make it after the end of August though, cos I can't travel far until then (my bail conditions preclude it lol)
?

In a word no.
There is only about six people on here I would like to meet, the rest I would not answer my front door to them. lol Let alone go out of my way.
Have much more important things to do like....clean my bike wheels.

well if you come to my birthday bash i can guarantee at least 1 forumite, maybe more, early september work for you?
Sh1t! I'd have loved to have come Kaz but we'll only be in UK during May!
What a shame!
damn damn damn damn
It would certainly be interesting and I'd like to do it, time and place allowing. It would be good to meet other posters, even ones I don't normally see eye to eye with here in the forum and discover how like or unlike my perceptions of them are. We may all be pleasantly surprised!
I agree with Max.

I doubt it Max. wink
In theory, if location and timing allowed then yes, I may be up for such an event.
But then I like actually meeting folk, even the ones who I think I may not like. wink

beg you pardon?
I did have a picture (after this was posted) of a unicycle, that was removed however as it has a child in the image. The bale of straw is still in its original position.

I/we might be persuaded to sit in a corner drinking and snapping at passersby
I have met a lot of people in the Mids chatroom at socials but lots on forum I havent met and that would be interesting to as well. So in theory if easy to get to then yes I would.

that settles it , you are all invited to my birthday bash, even Kent lol
Oh I do hope we can make it, only I have made plans to knock on Kentys door, thought we could do a wheel each dunno
Thanks to all those who have posted so far. Some of the usual one liners and slightly more in favour of a meet than I would have expected - still see how it concludes.
Plim wink

I had to smile at this one - ideas at the other site I mentioned about where Central England was gravitated to London in the end!
Plim

Just goes to show how selfish people can be, everybody knows central England is in Dorset
I would love to meet up with peeps from here....
many years ago I was on a site that had forums (a friendship site) and they had socials all of the uk - at the time I was living up in scotland and travelled down to London for a social.... just cos I wanted to put faces to names.... was the best time smile
I thought thats what Munches were for dunno
Or am I missing summat (apart from the obvious) :lol2:

Well anyone that ads their name to a munch list is in effect a forum poster
/pedant
I was going to say something similar earlier Steve, but I'm guessing what Plimboy meant is that it would be a social event specifically for regular forum posters. I'm guessing (again!) that there would be a specification which stated that attendees posted regularly on one of the 'social' forums (e.g. The Cafe, Just for Fun or Current Affairs)
dunno
