Apparently Sir Ranulph used to look for landmines whilst riding on the front a landrover. He didn't get a lot of respect from his professional colleagues for that little bit of bravado.

Wasn't it Sir Ranulph that amputated his own finger tips in the garden shed ? They had frostbite from an expedition and his doctor was treating them but when at home he kept knocking them and I believe he said "they hurt like buggery so I decided they had to go". Thats fkin hard.
