I have got up this morning, out to the boulangerie for the daily croissants, only to be confronted with black plastic rods and a wing mirror infront of my house in the middle of the road.............
All of sudden, after a brief period of bewilderment, a flash goes off in my head (rare occurence at that time in the morning) and I gasp for air as I spin my head further up the road, to where I had parked my car the night before confused
Not only where my fears and agnst confirmed but outdone, not 20m up the road, was my pride and joy, not 9 months old, less one wing mirror, and a whole left side!!!..........
my front wheel arch, which was a pristine curve of masculine beauty, now resembles paper machee, fabricated by over feed 4 year olds on a morning with too much sleep the night before!!.
My door, is well,,,,,,,kaput,,,,there is a scratch as big as my thigh running accross the rear end , that I know is going to hurt, and to top it all off, they even ripped off my pride and joys VTS badge sad
I am now sitting here, drinking my coffee after the police have been here, and insurance people and AA equivalent to check, take statements and take the car away......just been informed, my insurance will cover it if they can't find the bugger, but that my premiums will go throught the roof, ................big problem, as I have allready had to start from the beginning as here they didn't accpet my 8 years no claims in uk, so i had to start again.......so to these sharks, I'm now a driver of less than a year, with 1 claim!!. mad
not a fecking happy bunny :fuckinghell:
but, at least the car can be fixed, and I will get it back, and won't have to pay for the damage,,,,,,i suppose......
Sorry, just needed to rant :x .........................I'm now going to go and smoke a packet of tax free cigs, and drink lots, and cry........................but will be back once i have killed random teenagers with scratches on their cars

again, I agree, it's just a car, but it's more the point that someone has damaged it and driven off, no thought of what it means to the owner or the problems he has caused, not even to mention the financial implications for me now.......
But you are right, it is just car

Colts;
I know exactly how you feel. I took my pride and joy out of the garage at the weekend, parked outside the garage and went back to close the door. Old boy in next garage then reversed out of his garage, swung round without looking and drove straight into my car!!
Luckily there was a witness but I too have the additional problem of language, foreign insurance companies etc. to get through.
My car has had to be trailered away to a specialist garage and am not certain when the work will be completed or when I will get it on the road again.
Best of luck!!

again, wouldnt even put a material thing over a life..............!...........
dont think i implied that above did I???.,.....
but the title, I think, does show how it made me feel mad
if it were a person, trust me, i wouldnt be reacting in the same way
and don't worry about the title, this is a description of sorts of how I feel, BUT obviously I'm not going to go out and kill someone!......no offence or aggression intended Ms. Judy, but taking a little post a bit directly aren't you, there was no offence intended, and I take from your pm, that some was.
In which case, I can but apologise smile

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Colts23. We had our car scratched by our neighbours
daughter, all she had to say is, that it is part of the growing up process of children.

But you are right, it is just car

When a driver hits a PERSON such as a child and drives off and the child dies then we have more than a problem,. Your car can be repaired .....think about it ..............financial implications do not enter into it at a childs funeral, or when someone is in hospital due to contact with a car. In your case it was just car damage.
Its just a car, its people that are important. Well they are to most of us anyway. Some of us have lost a lot more than a damaged car. Like I said its all a matter of perspective. I think too many people think more of a metal and plastic box than they do about people and the damage that a car can cause to them both as an individual and a family.
It was the aggressive tittle of the post that shocked me a little too.
Judy

of course i agree with you that a life is more inportant than a car, tho saying that that does not make it ok to damage peoples belongings and just drive off without a thought for anyone, what if the owner was disabled and was their only means of getting around? people now days are far to happy to plod along thro life not giving a stuff about others. life is more inportant that belongings but when people have worked hard to get something thats inportant too and people shouldn't just abuse other peoples things
Just my opinion tho lol

it is hurtfull when something youve worked hard to achieve is destroyed or damaged. I know its not a person who was physically hurt , but emotional pain and disapointment in society is harmfull aswel, things like this cause bad feelings and i feel you have a right to be uspet.
this person obviousely has no consideration for anything, and i know a human was not injured but one could easily have been or may have been before or after this incident if they were driving so eratic to cause this damage.
if we dont value our own posessions what hope have we of respecting the place we live in.
i do put human life above that of material goods , but this was a pretty low excuse of a human to act in the manner that caused this damage.
hope your feeling more positive in people after youve recieved support from here.

Its just a car.............. no one died. This time next year it will be a mere dot in your mind.
Just my opinion and putting it in perspective.
Judy

judy do you own and drive a car ? when you spend circa 12k on what colts got... its heartbreaking when some piece of effulent does that to a car
i understand his sentiments and whole hearted agree with him
your sentiments are equally if not more so important but twist the thread off the who smashed the car in line

As I said in an earlier post the tittle of the thread was a little over the top. Damage to people, which is what was implied to the culprit was unnecessary in my opinion. I don't believe anyone should get away with criminal damage but I don't think we should put out that kind of aggression and certainly not a death wish.

I interpreted that as a figure of speech before I even opened up the thread.

Me too, and I'd be just as annoyed about a £12k car being totalled without any contact from the person that did the damage, and even more gutted about the soaring insurance as well.
A £12k car....... ah if only!! I'd be upset if my £375 car was written off in the middle of the night!

And that's a lot of the problem that I see this country suffering from: moralising and agonizing over every slightest little thing, and crucifying ourselves (well, some) about "attitude".
I sympathise entirely with this thread. I've had my hard earned posessions ripped off, trashed etc., by persons unknown. I couldn't give a toss about politically correct attitudes.
Yes, posessions can always be replaced (after yet more hard work). I'm still suffering the financial effects of having my car trashed last year, despite being insured. With respect, I really don't think the issue of human life is relevant here. I took the title of the thread to be metaphorical and an expression of anger and frustration, not literally intended FFS!
You know what really makes me mad? The little pieces of dirt who did it are probably being supported by me through my taxes!
Grrrrrrrrrr. This has made me really mad! mad :x :x :x :x :x

Colts......
Sorry to hear about yr car.... ask the garage to see if there are any flecks of the other vehicles paint left on your car at all..... any clues whatsoever as to what hit yrs...
The chances are.... it was either a driver who has no insurance.... or someone who knows that failing to stop and failing to report an accident both carry points for their licence...
The car can be repaired.... yes... you will be the financial loser.... but don't stop looking out for any car that may have hit yours....
and remember..... it could have been worse..... they could have torched it, stolen it or damaged it beyond repair......
equi-princess xxx
if it was my car..... i'd have the boys with the concrete boots looking for them.... lol

I sypathise very muchly with this situation, and can only say if it happened to my bike,(after spending 10 years looking for a decent example and several thousand pounds modifying it into what it has become, only to find out it's only insurable third party only),,I would not be so reserved in the same situation,in fact I'd probably spend an eternity hunting the offender down and if found would rip off their legs and beat them to death with the soggy end,,the world has gone all soft on the scummier side of humankind and if someone were to put them all on a big island and blow it up then the world could only be a better place mad and if these views offend anyone,,,,ho hum

First of all, ta very much to the lot of you.........nice to hear the comments/support etc :P
Now for the update, Police and garage phoned today and have informed me that the car that hit me was a Blue/ Metallic blue 4x4.........dents on the car were so high up, the garage said it could only be done by a car with very high wheel base, and they did indeed find paint work on the rear left fender.
Police say it looks like he has hit my car with his front wheel turning hard (avoiding me they say), then his car has conked into the back side panels .......
car is going in next week, hire car till then, insurance more than happy to help and police now looking through insurance records of 4x4's with insurance claims from this week biggrin
much happier than the other day, plus here, if you drive away from an accident, there is the possibility of a custodial sentance!!1,,,,,,,,,,serves the fecker right......
Oh and other good news, got an audi S3 as a replacement car for 2 weeks  ....day trip into germany 20 mins down the road needed I think :P
or quickly pop back to the uk lol ......ta again to all

What a revolution that promotes the proletariat that treasures property - give us a break - that's the status quo and long may it be so!
