Happy St David’s Day!!
It occurred to me that our Welsh friends deserved a mention today – their special day (and, yes I do know that Stu has done it on another thread. A second time can't hurt though! 8) ).
I mean our thoroughly gorgeous Scottish cousins are delightfully vocal – and we love to hear from them as often as possible. In case you hadn’t spotted it, I am choosing my words very carefully – mindful as I am that Bassdude, BlueEyes and byron are all giving up smoking and may be ever so slightly more easily provoked than usual. :taz: Which reminds me, how’s it going guys? You know we are all rooting for you. :bounce:
So, all you Welsh types, I hope you have a great day.
(and, of course, that goes for those of you in the border country too wink  )
Gosh Will - I had forgotten it was St David's day.
Hello to all out Welsh friends!
I can't wait to get back on that beach near shell island when the weather warms up!
I love Wales (and Dolphins)
Hugs, Alex x x

Aw, shucks Will, dang my britches, you must mean me redface (is there anyone else here in the border country that I've missed?) How sweet. Well, thanks friend...I don't know what to say.
I've been in the Principality all day, on business: everyone has their daffodils pinned proudly to their coats. several I met mentioned the funeral today of John Charles. I live feet, literally, from the border , but it is another world. They look after their people there and have a heritage, language and culture they are proud of (plus they probably still have a few of my ancestors' cattle). I sometimes feel we English are are culturally impoverished-superior at Rugby, undoubtedly-and regret that much of the richness England has been lost. I've said before, my own local dialect is all but gone. That is why I love to spend time in Northumberland-so much lives on. Yes, unfair I know, there is still much to love in England, but I fear we have lost something somehow, somewhere, along the way. I prepare to be taken to task.
So for my Welsh neighbours, I confess:
Iechyd da pob Cymro, twll tin pob Sais. (Gem ddwl yw criced!) Hwyl Fawr.
A.
Ah well I can always rely on google to let me know about important days (st paddys day, mothers day, valentines day)
Well, Artificer. Whilst I cannot deny that I had you partly in mind when I made my comment about the border country. I am sure that you will forgive me if I confess that you weren't quite at the forefront of it. wink
I just wanted to say that I totally agree about England losing much of its richness. There is no doubt that the Scots, Welsh and Irish are all far more conscious of their heritage than we are. Though there are one or two English regions that can emulate that. I can think of lots of reasons why this is so - but they are probably not for general discussion here in the Forum. I daresay that not everyone would find it as fascinating a topic as we would.
Best to leave that until we meet over a pint of Merlot. Soon I hope!
