Addiction?

Hi guys, first thread, so please be gentle!
By way of introduction, I'm Jon, 30 yrs old, based in Derby, not especially new to the scene, but new to SH.
Do you think this lifestyle is an addiction? The reason I ask is that my ex and I were, I suppose, swingers. We never advertised, went to parties or clubs, but it seems that every other weekend, there was someone else in our bed. Having said that, for all I know Sue was a regular here and setting it all up...lol!
Anyway, here I am, three years after we split, madly in love with my new partner...and desperate to get back into the swing of things. My other half has no interest in swinging...not much interest in sex at all, if I'm honest (although her ears did prick up the other day when someone was talking about dogging in the pub). These circumstances got me thinking about the lifestyle, and what I want, and I realise it's not just sex...it's the anticipation, being with like-minded people, the freedom. If it was just sex, I could have an affair, or pay for it.
So I reckon, in some way, I'm addicted to the lifestyle. Once and alcoholic, always an alcoholic, they say. What do you guys think?

i dont agree with addiction ,although its a nice constant thing in life
i think its more of an educated choice

Interesting thread. I think it depends on the Individual. We are not addicted. We can go for months without going to a club. We have got to that stage sometimes where we think that we would never go again. Then that urge comes and we are at it again. We have known people that appeared addicted. One really nice couple we knew used to travel up and down the country in a motor home going to various clubs. They would even park up in the car park of their favourite club and spend the whole weekend there. Haven't seen them for a while so may be they are on patches lol

My emotions and behaviour when I don't engage in swinging activities is consistent with the clinical definition of addiction. It's not just the sex I miss if I don't go to clubs etc, as often I go to clubs and don't have sex at all... it is the atmosphere and the buzz of being there. I did stop when I was pregnant but I was counting the weeks til I could do it again. I wouldn't want to stop now, though I go through periods where I feel the need to do it much more than at other times.
Am I addicted? Yes.

i am most definately addicted, not just the sex(is great tho), its the dressing up, meeting like minded peeps, and the general atmosphere of clubs. Gets me really horny. wink

Yep, for us it's a case of a spur of the moment thing as in one of us might say to the other,' fancy a Jaccuzzi' ?
and off to a club we go.

I think you've hit the nail on the head...it's the whole experience that makes it so intoxicating. I think I have to try a club...I'd probably burst with the anticipation!

I think the clubing thing is the best way to get into the swing thing. Others might disagree. I am sure you will enjoy yourself if you went.
