I have been told that im addicted to Sh  . Theyre probably right, i am. Then it lead me on to thinking, i do get addicted to things very easily. When i find something that i enjoy, whether it be on here, a certain food, a perfume,a song i will exhaust it until i get so fed up with it that i eventually cant stand it anymore. Although i cant imagine getting fed up on here wink .
What are you addicted to?
At the moment im addicted to Swinging Heaven, Cadburys Caramel Bars, Eternity perfume and watching CSI.
Have you ever had any weird addictions?
I dont know if its an addiction as such but every time i walk past a parked car i have to read its number plate  i have been doing this for years now and has such became an addiction for me, if i dont do it i have to go back and look again.

I play online poker too, but i count it more as a hobby than an addiction. Well thats my excuse and im sticking to it. Youve got to have at least one hobby, right dunno

Louise 'fraid to say doing those sort of rituals like having to read a number plate when you see it can be a sign of mild OCD.
Oh and guess who's going to a Social this coming Saturday? wink

You have a classical "addictive personality type" Louise, I have one too.
People with this kind of personality type tend to need a focus in their lives (apparently).. I used to be addicted to smoking, I quit, so I became addicted to drinking wine every night.. I had to replace the void. When I gave up the wine, I threw myself 100% into keeping fit, when I got sick of that I moved on to baking and baked for days.
I honestly don't know if it's a good or bad thing, it doesn't harm or bother me, and yes, I'm addicted to here also! lol
I totally agree Jaymar! Ive been addicted to Everything right from my early childhood when I couldnt get enough of my space hopper lol
Ive always replaced one addiction with another. Luckily not long after giving up smoking I met my other half and I've been addicted to sex ever since

Now that's an addiction that is very worthwhile :rascal:
I have become a very strange kind of smoker. I've cut down to 10 a day and I only smoke at work. I don't smoke in the evenings or weekends or socially. In fact I complain about other smokers and smoky rooms.
I think I may have become the smoking equivelent of an alcholic in that only I smoke when on my own.
Other addictions??? Think I'm too much of a control freak to give into them. biggrin

Ebay, Addict (Dior) perfume (how apt), After 8 mints, watching Frasier and Hotel Babylon... Of all of those it is Frasier that is my #1 addiction... I only discovered Frasier about a year ago... and it is brilliant! lol

DON'T PANIC
There is a world of difference between enjoying doing something and being obsessed. You may like eating chicken. You may always choose the chicken dish when you go out to eat but you are not, suffering from OCD. biggrin

OK so maybe I was a little too casual with my post. redface lol
Everyone has some kind of OCD. Have you ever left the house and then thought "Did I switch the light off?" or something similar and you've gone back and checked, well that's a kind of OCD. It's perfectly normal.
It's only a problem when it dominates your life (like making you late for an appointment because you have to read ever numberplate on the way there.
Oh and I have a close relative who's a chronic sufferer. They spent 36 hours straight (without food or sleep) performing a task and then spent another 8 hours cleaning themselves.
It's when it's like that you have a real cause for concern. sad
My Dad has a terrible habbit of checking things, especially leaving his home... he has an irrational fear that he will be burgled.
If we go out anywhere I know that I have to plan ahead by at least two hours. Thats the ammount of time it takes to actually get to the gate. He continually has to go back and enter his home, yet again to check, to see if he really did turn the burlar alarm on, he's laid his hidden traps rolleyes , all his worldly goods are under lock and key etc etc. An then the process starts all over again....
I darent turn up for a surprise visit... I have to make sure I give him at least a years notice (ok an exaggeration). If I turn up unexpected or call an hour before hand he goes into complete panic. Im not allowed in the house until he's ready and calmed down.
If I want to pop up the shop whilst Im visiting.. its dangerous and Im not allowed to go 20 yards up the road alone. I have to have an escort of at least 6 cousins... confused :? :?
I dont/cant visit very often, its frustating and painful, for my Dad, myself and rest of family....
xanaisx
I think I may have a bit of that OCD thingamy too... to be honest it doesn't worry me... I call those sort of things quirky habits! lol
I have a loo roll obsession in that they HAVE to hang the right way round... there is only one way to hang a loo roll! rolleyes
There are things in my flat that have to be "just so" and I move them if they're not. There are loads of other things that make me twitch but I think I'm just a bit anally retentive! dunno
Things I'm addicted to... erm... my security blanket would have to be one of them. I NEVER go anywhere without it... EVER! Although, before you start to call the men in white coats you'd never see it, well not unless you're close to me. It's the comfort of knowing it's in my bag or up my sleeve I guess. There is a name for it in the British Medical Journal... it's an affliction that I love!
Oh... and ciggies!
Some addictions are awful and I really don't envy people who suffer from alcohol or drug or food addictions... I don't really worry about my behaviour... it's quirky and sometimes a bit weird but not life threatening to me or anyone else!
I'll get me coat! :giggle:

I have an addictive personality to.
Its just a case of learning to become addicted to things that are better for me.
At one point in my late teens, I was addicted to certain illegal drugs. I replaced that with an addiction to chocolate.
I have to limit the amount of alcohol I drink, or that may become a major problem for me.
Unfortunatly I can't bring myself to be addicted to exercise or healthy food, so maybe I have a selective addictive personality!!!
