Adding pre-recorded Video (tech question)

Is it possible to download a one minute, pre-recorded Mpeg vid to "my videos" gallery (as you do with a jpeg photo "my photos")or can only live webcam recordings be added?

Only managed web cam ourselves, but someone may know more.

You could try to play your video back on a tv or second monitor and record it using your webcam, you can frame it up in advance to get the best frame size.
The only real problem i can think of is you might get some screen flicker but this can usually be overcome by setting your webcam frequency/refresh rate/ frames per second to the same frequency as your video.

I have tried this but it just seems a cheap way of doing it. I've edited a really nice beach vid together, but if there are no other ways I'll probably try this again (Thanks for the frequency tip)

have a look at your camcorder (if you have one) to see if it can be used as a webcam via USB, you might be able to get it to play back from tape via the USB. This is a bit of a long shot as USB isn't generally used for video playback, but for file transfer (but i can think of a few Sony Prosumer/ Pro Mini Dv's that do)

Yes I had that thought too - sadly not an option as I don't have a suitbale camcorder and I've transfered the file from my digital camera to the computer. Thanks again for the idea though.

it allows you to choose from many sources and output them as if they were from your webcam, including stills and videos. It works fine on the chatrooms here and also allows you to output your webcam to several destinations at the same time -- eg chatroom and messenger at the same time. Just remember to disable the manycam logo cos admin don't like it ...

Some people are having trouble finding the control for the manycam logo
Its under the "Effects" tab
in the "Text over video" section
Un-tick the "show logo" box
