Adobe flash player.. help

I am trying to download flash player to use chatrooms etc but it just will not download,all i get is..
When you see the installation completion movie above and text below, your installation was successful. The installation should only take a minute or two on a 56k modem.
above that is a box with a red X in the left corner and it just stays like that for ages.
Please can anyone offer any help or solutions for me to get into chat am going mad here and may soon have to throw comp out of window mad

well maybe if you are running security on your pc then you need to unblock your settings as its identified in much the same way as annoying pop ups. and so blocked.

Yes i think its a firewall setting. You need to make it allow flash.

well the red x in the box means your browser isn't loading the graphics, but not enough info in your post to say why? which browser for a start?
if you're using IE, go to internet options in tools menu, and check . . .
do you have java installed?
do you have activex allowed?
do you have popup / ad blockers installed?
that's all i can think of? dunno

Using internet explorer,but apart from knowing that i haveno idea about other stuff,think need someone to come and give me a hand doing it rolleyes

You need to disable your pop up blocker or change your fire wall settings both of which should be able to be done in the system tray (the bit next to the clock in the tool bar) hover over each icon with your cursor and it will tell you what each one is then click on it to access the panel :D

You getting a yellowish bar across the top of the window saying a pop up has been blocked from this site to allow pop ups click here ?

have got macromedia flash player 8 but still cant get into chatrooms

I came accross this problem a while back at my work and took various tries to fix the problem.
Macromedia released a flash player that had a problem with it, maybe it is related?
If you follow the instructions at and uninstall the previous player.
Then hopefully you will be able to install the biggrin

Let us know if that fixes it smile
