anyone see the program last night on adoption? it focused on a couple who adopted a child from china and a single girl who adopted a lad in romania, nothing moves me to tears really bt i have to admit to being utterly welled up watching that last night,as a father all i could picture was my own child in the situation of a romanian orphan,i thought the days since ceaucescu (spelling?) had improved romania but it appears not,the lack of human contact is causing terrible problems and i have thought of nothing else all day.
terrible ,terrible

I agree but look outside you front door & I'm sure it wont take u long to find far worse sights right here in this country & not what the TV bosses dictates what will be the next thing to tug at our heart strings with...
Sorry but its a fact.

It was an emotional piece. What really got me upset was how that american nurse wrote in her diary that she wanted her adopted children to die. She should have been given a heftier sentence for that little boys death.
As a nurse she mustve known that burning a child like that wcould kill it if medical help wasnt sought. mad
That child would have been better off left in a Romanian orphanage.

I also couldn't understand how she let those burns go untreated, it was a very shocking story.......it appeared that she and her husband may have had very little vetting (poss because she was a nurse) and from what I saw of her interview, she seemed emotionally immature and a poor candidate for an adoptive parent - hard to tell though given that she was being interviewed part way through a jail term confused
The biggest problem with those stories seemed to be that overseas adoptions organised from the UK/USA etc offer no time for the potential parents to get to know a child, the time is spent on the paperwork (and "costs") and then the child is handed over without a bond of any kind being formed first - very difficult situation!

robbie_rob ..... it was a really sad thing to watch and I am sure for those of us with children it certainly made us think.
God, I feel so shallow and inadequate.
I think it must have clashed with E.R.
