banghead :banghead: :banghead: started a new job at the end of July thinking it would make my life a little easier. what do you think confused:
Wake up at 5 o clock
shower coffee & then anotha coffee to make sure I'm awake rolleyes
walk out of the house at to get the bus to town at
bus from town at for the city arriving at
either run for the bus to my work destination to get there for or wait 30mins for the next bus :undecided: could have anotha coffee :?: or get to work early so I can finish early :?:
Get to work- kettle on, heating on as by this time recently I've been shivering in my boots sad
work through my dinner so again I can leave early.
finish at 4 oclock & then journey back.
BUT tonight un -be -none to me some bright spark decided to start digging up his drive way & burst a gas pipe closing the road.
Feckin two hrs I waited on the bus to pass one section. In all, it normally takes me just over two hrs to get to work & 3 hrs to get home ( tea time traffic)
tonight it has taken me four hrs to get home.
my question is- how many other people feel that its all work & no fun!!!
role on the weekend
Hate to not agree but I have a job I just LOVE! Honestly.... mind you I don't have your daily travel problems though I do often have to trek down the motorway to Midlands/Leicestershire/Derbyshire but manage to visit and stay with friends at the same time.
I understand your frustrations - :therethere: :therethere:
:P

thanks jags- I love my job too, it can be so rewarding but the traveling gets me so mad
I passed my driving test when I left school (not telling you how long that is though redface ) but a drink driver crashed straight into me. Has totally put me off. So buses will have to do for now

Why not have some more driving lessons to get your nerve back - could be a good investment and loads of driving instructors would be happy to get you back on the road?
:P

Most accidents - and most serious accidents - happen on country roads. Too many winding road with severe corners, blind summits and so on!! Get back on the A roads.

On a serious note for once, I used to have a fairly high-powered job. It meant commuting by train every day, as I don't drive a car. I was leaving home at and getting home at It got to the stage where I hardly knew the kids.
I threw it all in, took a job with half the pay, and was as happy as Larry.
Commuting is bloody hard work, you have my utmost sympathy!
The idea of Commuting drives me nuts, 2 hours there 3 back... No thanks!
I am lucky I suppose, leave for work at at work for 8am leave when I like (ok mostly when I like lol) and home in less than 10 mins.....
Job I enjoy, great Boss (no make that a fantastic Boss), not too bad money wise, good hours and a few perks along the way.....
Have to say I think I am lucky yes........

ohh I can empathise with you there.........I had my first ever crash this summer and it really has affected my driving, soon afterwards I started having panic attacks whilst on the motorway and generally now drive as if everyone else is trying to kill me. But I really love my job and so as I can't get there without driving, I found a route that doesn'tinvolve going on the motorway and whilst I still get scared at times I think I am just starting to build my confidence back up! biggrin
Also the new route is actually about half the miles I used to do (although I haven't mentioned this to work so I can still claim the extra miles  )
DEFENSIVE driving - the art of thinking that everyone else on the road is out to kill you - is the perfect way to drive!

It's those who take no heed of others on the road who are the killers.
Go for it!

thanks...........I've still got a long way to go until I'm more confident but as Jags pointed out it is better to be a defensive driver.
As for you letting His drive.........I know what you mean, I get the Shedster to drive most of the time, but to be honest I have always and still do feel safer driving myself.........
I know it's hard but get back behind the wheel.........it takes time but you will ge there in the end......kiss

That is the way I have driven for years (and years I am old biggrin) Read Catch 22 that is how Yossarian stayed alive.
For those who are nervous about driving and worry about having an accident, try going to a racing school and book in to a skid test or something like that, you will learn so much about car control. Also try a bit of indoor or outdoor karting, you will have few crashes doing that and learn they ain't so bad. The car can be repaired, not the body however so drive like everyone is trying to kill you and you will have less accidents.
However back on topic sort of, I used to love driving until it became a necessary evil of my job. I now detest the complete waste of time called commuting. It makes a normal day's work hours longer in some cases, and for what real reason?
