A totally sex free post now (sorry Pink wink lol  )
Has anyone ever had allergy testing for food allergies, and by that I mean one of the tests that tests you for loads of different food and drinks.
If you have I just wondered what you thought about your results and did you think they were accurate?
did you make changes to your diet based on the results and did they help.
Just wanted some opinions from people who have had them before i shell out biggrin
ive been talking to my friend about this today, what a co-incidence!
she got a leaflet from holland and barrett as they do some sort of testing.
were both interested in it due to unexplained stomach pains, hers for while mine just for a couple of months.....ive been on a very strict diet and i think re-intorducing different foods has brought some kind of allergy or sensitivity to the fore maybe?
anyway, it will be good to see what people have to say about their experiences
I had it done at the hospital years ago. Though I had other tests done for metals, plants etc as well. Tests came back all clear except for Aloe Vera, so they never found out what caused my skin problems until later years. They now think its all stress related.
The tests have most likey all changed an are probably better these days.
To be honest, it depends why you want it done? Why pay when you can have it done free via your doctor?
Is this one of those tests you can have done at the chemists now??? Im all out of touch with the world lol

Anais, exactly the same here!
So I endured a week of itchiness and what seemed like 90 million patches of allergens and loads of sticky plaster all over my back only to be told it was inconclusive!! Stress, gotta love it huh?!
Mrs B, I would get it done through your doctor if you really think there is a problem. Either that or you could try to exclude certain things and see if your symptoms clear up and then re-introduce?
Why waste money?

Until you mentioned it, I'd forgotten how itchy if was :lol2: Drove me crackers for a whole week!
Over the years, I have found certain things make it worse at times....... semen being one of them (wasn't tested for that confused :? ) Dust (wasnt tested for that either), and certain foods when I already have really bad case of it has an effect I believe so Ive learnt to cut down on dairy foods during that period.

I haven't been tested for this but it's been proven to the satisfaction of my GP and hosptial consultant - excessive dairy products give me the most horrible and nasty and disgusting sinusitis!
For many years I suffered really bad bouts of it, most of which need massive doses of antibiotics and weeks off work until it was discovered.
Strawberries make me itch like mad... probably wheat bloats me out but I wouldn't go as far as saying it's an allergy, more an intolerance.
Not much help, sorry, just wanted to get them off my mind.
:P
Thanks guys, I knew I could rely on you for some sensible advice smile
The reason Im asking is because I have the sorest tongue imaginable sad It feels like its been scalded all the time, and its the same on the roof of my mouth.
I keep getting mouth ulcers all the time (but Ive had that since I was a kid anyway), so I waas just wondring if I may have a food allergy.
I eat a lot of cheese, tomatoes and garlic and drink far more coke than is good for me, so I thought one of theser may be the trigger.
Think I will go to my GP's and see what he says about it.......maybe I should ask him to test me for semen allergy lol
whoopsss a little bit of sex sneaked in there
Awe poor you, what a way to start the year, hope you get better soon biggrin but for what you’re describing I’d suggest you visit a dentist as well as visiting your GP.
I’m not a medical expert but it does sound like your diet, sounds like your not getting enough vitamin B2, I’m sure your GP will let you know either way lol
Hi not had any of the tests myself, though I know people in the bodybuilding scene who have. These guys have to be ultra strict on diet and have to "cut up" decreasing the body's fat levels before a contest and as such diet is an important part of the overall contest prep.
The results have been positive to all the guys I've spoken to and when their diet was modified after the results they felt much more comfortable in their skin so to speak. Maybe this was mind over matter/psychological?
The important thing to realise is that everything in MODERATION is the key to good health, you dont actually need any vitamin supplements at all if you have a healthy balanced diet as your body takes them from the foods you consume.
If your diet is less than healthy vitamin C at 200mg twice a day and and vitamin B12 and calcium are a safe bet without rattling around like a pill box.
All I can really recommend is that if you are having stomach/digestive system problems, go to the doctor and explain your symptoms, if he is a decent GP he will not fob you off, if he does paying for a private consultation is a good bet and sometimes necessary with the state of the NHS. (government at fault NOT the employees, just to clarify the last point)

A quick check on t'internet comes back with some fairly likely causes:
Anaemia
Thrush
Vitamin deficiency
A trip to the GP (or maybe your dentist) would probably sort you out
Hi Mrs B, I had a vega test a few months ago and found it to be accurate to the allergies I already knew about - it picked up a strong reaction to white wine which makes me violently ill even if it's just a glass or two. The other thing that came up was tomatoes - not sure about that, can't say I've noticed a reaction yet but I've cut them out anyway. Generally I avoid milk, aspartame, e numbers and GM foods.
You might also want to look at the crap in your cosmetics and toiletries, its amazing how many toxins and carcinogens are allowed! I avoid parabens, sodium lareth sulfate and artifical perfume (which can be up to 200 chemicals just listed as 'parfum'). Check out your deodorant too, it's probably got aluminium in which has been found in breast tissue from women with breast cancer. I use crystal rock and can't recommend it enough (I've converted Mr Horny and bought all my family one for Christmas lol)
I'm allergic to brussels sprouts......... rolleyes
