I hate the way even complete strangers can get at me and make me feel depressed. *sigh* Tell me, do you think I'm being unreasonable here?
I listed a mechanical item on ebay. Because I'd never used it I stated in the description that it was sold-as-seen and because I'd never tried it I couldn't vouch for whether it would work or not, although I had no reason to suppose it wouldn't.
Someone bought it.
On receipt, the buyer starts sending me angry emails about how the item isn't as described because it doesn't work. I told him the description states I've never tried the item and those were the terms under which he bought it. Buyer is unconvinced.
Do you think I'm being unreasonable here? Fair enough, if I bought something and it didn't work, I'd be pretty pissed too, but I did make it very clear in the description that I didn't know if it worked or not?
you sold it as sold as seen, and said it was untested...thats the gamble you have to take sometimes..i bought a dvd player once..that didnt work, still only paid a tenner, and the repair cost 15, so i still did well
years ago i bought a hifi from a auction got it home plugged it in,didnt work, checked the inside, nothing not a thing to be found,no circuit no wires, nowt, was i pissed,so i decided to take it back for auction a week later, made 2 quid, moral to this, try and make a positive from a negative wink
I go on ebay and stay firmly away from the never tested it sold as seen things cos they probably don't work.
Don't stress just reply saying it was stated "sold as seen" and you had no idea it didn't work........... unless of course you knew it didn't work.... then I'd be mad too!
well u stated u never saw it workin..........personally,i wouldnt have bought it,....but nah mate u aint bien unreasonable
Stick to your guns Roger sweetie.... If it stated in the description that it was sold as seen and that you didn't know if it worked then you are covered....
Tell em flipa

You find alot of people don't bother reading all the details for items that are sold on ebay as long as you clearly stated "sold as seen" you shouldn't lose any sleep over it.
Well think a lot here depends on amount, if it fairly cheap whatever (under say £20) then untested fair enough. If it more then I would give em the cash back, but fairs fair, it was sold 'as seen' so they should cover the postage so you not out of pocket either...
Just my opinion smile
:P No you're not being unreasonable Roger. But if you have that nagging doubt and absolutely wanna do the right thing...me personally?...I'd give the guy his refund and sell the thing through the Loot or something. That way, no bad Khama to be dealing with smile
The temptation to say YES Roger you are unreasonable was there just cos its you :P kiss
Then I saw you were being serious and I have to say, tell him to bog off. He bought it based on the descrition so tough.

Tell him to piss off and grow up - he bought the bloody thing knowing it was sold as seen so tough shit.
As long as you were honest in your description then you won't have any comebacks. If he reports you to Ebay they will support you I would have thought.

Seems like he got the goods as described!! Fuck him sometimes these things happen and not just on e-bay!! Lots of places have a no return policy on goods anyway so really if he wasnt sure what it was and if he was and wasnt going to be happy if it wasnt what he wanted then he shouldnt have bought it!!
Yes bit
Thanks to everyone for the messages of support. Very reassuring to hear so many think I'm in the right - we can't all be wrong! smile
It was only 9 quid (including postage) so I don't think the guy should feel too hard done by. But I get very angry with myself though for letting people get to me like this - I was feeling really good this morning, and by tonight I was feeling about ready to throw myself under a bicycle. I'd have given the guy his refund if it'd clear my mind, but I did that I know I'll just spend days dissing myself for not standing on my principles. Guess sometimes you just can't win, huh?
Wait until 5 minutes before the 90 day feedback period is up then leave him a real stinker! That way he can't rebut it
E-bay are wankers anyway!! I was once bored and had heard that someone had been trying to sell a bottle of fresh air the week before so I decided to see what would happen if I put a used condom on for auction (didnt say how it had been used though!!) I also stuck another couple of really stupid things on it for a laugh although I only got bids on the used condom as some maniac complained about me for being so disgusting (ffs some people have no sense of humour!) Was already making £3 on it already as well the other items didnt even get a chance cause I got kicked off e-bay! haha
Needless to say I was back on a month later buying a copy of a rare video (not that kind of video!) I had wanted for ages that wasnt available anyway biggrin
I notice they didnt kick off the girl who sold her virginity to pay her university fees thou (maybe they did eventually??), maybe had something to do with the amount of money they would make on her auction confused
Think she got about £10k
I'd imagine it's also good publicity.
I wonder how many young men tried to sell their virginity on ebay after that...

Yeah they did. She set up her own 'site confused
Hymen reconstruction = £2k, Virginity = £10k - there's a goldmine just waiting for someone
I saw someone else doing that on another site recently... price had got up to around £30k!
Who the hell is bidding, and why????!?
I think all my stretch marks and the fact I'm so fantastic in bed would give away thr fact I'm not a virgin  (well.. I gotta make myself feel good somehow)
may we ask what the mechanical item was?

redface bloody dirty mind was working overtime here biggrin

I think u did the right thing roger....i use ebay alot and brought afew crap things...and if it was so bad and the person wouldn't give me a refund or what ever i just get paypal to refund me and thats that....i only pay for items on paypal cause its abit safer....
But sod the twat...if he can't read then thats tuff.....the only thing i hate is the peeps who add a fee on top of the postage and item price....i have told ebay about afew items i'd won and the person was asking paypal for me to pay more than stated, which ebay sorted and i paid what i should and didn't get bad feeback cause ebay has stated that in there terms that u can't over charge....or add any fees other than price and postage....
i like ebay tho....but i'm careful of all the fraud that goes on...it happened to my mother in law, some twat in america stole her id and account and tried selling 2 motor bikes..asking for the money upfront..ie a deposit...1 bike was on for 24 hours and it got to 12 grand and the other bike was on for 48 hours over a weekend and that got 8 grand then ebay suspended her account until it could resolve the matter on a week day rolleyes ...but they never got him and they changed everything for her...but she was helpless when he stole the account...the strange thing was he signed her out of ebay while she wa bidding on some other items...she was really pissed cause she really whated the item, so ebay contacted the sellor and they came to an arrangement and she got the item in the end tho....
Omg i can go on can't i...rant over lol

Dont forget the bump as well - unless you're passing it off as an immaculate conception??? that would make MILLIONS on ebay!!!
