Often when looking at peoples adverts on this site we see the phrase "please don't write, "we like your profile...please have a look at ours""
Which infers that the people placing the ad expect you to write a detailed description about yourselves when you answer their ad.
Fine if there is next to nothing in your profile, but we spent a fair bit of time trying to get our profile right. We think it describes what we are looking for, what our build is and other relevant stuff.
So what should we do? Copy and paste our profile into a reply? But then the photos would not be shown.
Think when we do an ad it will say "if you don't have a comprehensive profile, please describe yourselves fully......at least two pages of A4 are required"

Yes Nola, it is the standard wink message and if you then go into the profile and there is nothing wrote on it, it usually means that it is a free member as they are not able to put anything in the profile text.

best thing is compose a very very good advert and sit back and wait ??? that way no long periods of waiting for a reply thats never gonna come from adverts you have replied to

As a single male you probably think it's ignorant, but put yourself in the shoes of (say) a single fem who puts an ad up and immediately finds herself on the receiving ends of tens or maybe hundreds of emails a day from it!

You will also find that some people can't take rejection very well, and once they've been turned down will fire back with a final, very abusive pm that tells the person with the advert what they really thought of them.

can understand what you are saying and a good point, find it rather juvenile that someone would want to mail someone privately after having been turned down :shock:
but in my personal instance when say you have written to quite a few people who may fit your criteria and you are their criteria , then sit back and no reply :cry:
it gets a tad tiring after a while with not even a sorry no thanks , so you think why bother ......my ad is there for all to see let them come to you then there is no hassle ....that will be me from now on ....munchies meets at socials pubs etc but no replys ......naaaaaa not for me :shock: :shock: :shock:

I'll admit that I'm dreadful when it comes to PMs. I read them and think, I'll answer that later because of one reason or another or I need time to compose a suitable reply. Then I forget 
ops: :oops: :oops: and probably only remember when I get another PM.I/we don't have an ad, until recently I had a blank profile and I get loads of one liners from people saying "like your ad" or similar. I never reply to these people. It's clear we're not up for quick shags from our profile and that we rarely entertain single males! How much clearer does it need to be? And yet .... the PMs still come!
If you want to meet then I'm unlikely do so on the strength of a one liner, quicky or wink. I like personality, wit and confidence, a one liner has none of that at all!
I won't apologise for not replying to one liners, scatter shots (where people send out loads of the same in the hope of getting one or two replies) because I just don't like it. It works for some and I'm not knocking those that do it, I'm just not interested in being a notch!

We do not have an advert on for that reason, too many PMs to reply to.
I once was pulled for not replying and basically called rude, I try my best to respond to all now, as I am a polite person by nature, but sometimes like someone said earlier, you think I will do it later, then the next lot come in, and someone will get missed!
A "thanks but no thanks" button would be great dont you think?
You get out what you put in to a message, not saying by all means that yours were not good ones(as I have never had one like that from you!) but sometimes you can see they are standard replies, or two liners, and they just are not going to attract a ladies attention when she is swamped!
By the way, chat can be great, hang on in there!
The NW ladies will always make you welcome in the forum chat room, look out for it!!

but these ignorant so and so's who lurk and frequent this site hiding in the corners and placing the odd fake add :shock: can grind your own genuine attitude down .Hence why I will no longer reply to ads on here ...most are fake anyway esp with no pic no friends no interest no tag line no interests :shock:

As I understand it, when you sign up for an account here now you have to put up an ad.
Some people don't want to put up an advert, but in order to have an account, they have to. This leads to a large number of vague, at best, adverts and others that simply aren't looked at again and to which responses perhaps aren't actually wanted.
I personally don't think an advert should be a prerequisite of setting up an account.

yes i think you do. i was just trying to get the point across that a lot of single guys cruise here and get frustrated when they dont get replies to mail.
Alternatively maybe the site stats should show out of the 947,280 members, how many are currently paid up and active? number of fems, males & couples. My guess is single guys probably outnummber single ladies 10 to 1
