Anti-virus

anyone of an anti-virus programme that I can download onto my laptop and then copy onto cd or flashdrive and load into my pc which is currently perhaps there is already a thread on this subject which someone could point me in the direction of.

Er all anti virus programmes can do this, google avg free edition, down load the installer then swop it via flash drive, cd or even eithernet cable over to your affected machine and then execute (install) the programme biggrin

I Find avast also avalible as a freebie download just as good

I would suggest Kaspersky, The first month if free. In my opinion out of all the anti virus software I've used over the years this is the best.

I wouldn't personally reccommend making a direct connection from a potentially infected machine to a clean pc with an ethernet cable.
Otherwise you might just end up with two infected machines dunno

IN all honesty you may be right, but as long as you don't drag from the infected machine to the clean one you should be ok, it's the same as having 2 operating systems on one HDD I'm led to beleave viruses can't jump from one to the other of their own accord. However Ian's right to be honest I shouldn't have recomended that method and It's one I have never used my self. I guess I get carried away with techno babble at times redface

The free AVG is only about 16MB so you would easily fit it on a CD or USB memory stick and transfer it to your pc. Ive been using AVG for several years and never had a problem with it. The Avast free version has a few more utilities from what i remember but i prefer AVG.
