Jodi Picoult - Salem Falls
Richard Montanari - The Rosary Girls
Memoirs Of A Geisha ( cant remember the author )
For a good giggle try any of the Discworld books
Kathy reichs is good and so is patricia cornwell, at the minute i'm getting into crime stuff. and i've just finished warlock by wilbuor smith. damn good series of books.
Wow - did not realise there were so many literary swingers around. I like both classic and contemporary novelists. Favourite moderns are (British) Ian McEwan, Julian Barnes, David Lodge, Rose Tremain, (American) John Updike, John Irving, Paul Auster,
Classics - Dickens, Charlotte Bronte, Orwell, Graham Greene (assume they count as classic now).
Also love Shakespeare - catch the London productions whenever I can.
Non-fiction
Travel - Paul Theroux, Jonathan Raban, Bill Bryson
Science: Stehen Jay Gould, Richard Dawkins, Paul Davies, Stevn Rose
History - Simon Schama, Tom Holland, Niall Ferguson
Philosophy - Greeks to present.
Also into art - member of Tate - visit exhibitions etc.
Anyone with sharing the above or similar please feel free to contact me directly.

What does Jonathan Raban cover? Not cottoned onto any of his - do like Paul Theroux and Bill Bryson - so I'm interested. Have you read Hotel Honolulu by Paul Theroux? One of the most curiously rivetting novels I've come across. Both Mrs TE and I enjoyed it - some of testimony that! (We usually have widely differing tastes)
Hi TE
I just spent half an hour writing a considered reply to your post then lost it while trying to post it - so sorry I am too pissed off to writing it again.
Just to say that Raban covers similar ground to Theroux - I highly recommend Coasting and Old Glory.
