Well actually this is about addictions which we don't realise we have. I stopped drinking tea and coffee to avoid my addiction to caffeine. I was having very strong cups of tea and coffee, which I loved, but the effects were finally inhibiting me. So after a month off the caffeine I feel more regularised with my energy levels, and generally calmer.
I would love to have a 'proper' coffee or tea right now. I would really like to get back on it, but I really want to stay off it.

I was heavily addicted to drinking coffee a few years back, I worked in an office where there was a free machine and I had up to 8 cups a day. I am now safely under 3 cups a day but can honestly say I wouldn't give them up, I love them. What about de-caf? I personally wouldn't touch it.
I was once a coffee drinker. then the office got some very poor coffee in. Now I no longer drink coffee at work. Just lots of tea. I know I can quit caffeine if only the tea gets as bad as the coffee.
...or I could bring my own.
I don't drink either and never have done!!
Orange juice and mineral water here please
lol
I am trying to avoid de-caffeinated products or anything which is like real tea and coffee. As this could get my taste buds attuned to the real stuff again.
I am drinking red bush tea and fruit teas. These are naturally without caffeine.
So there you are, its a reformed dunc, slightly errr.... Starbucks, Costa, might be somewhere to book a holiday maybe. lol
I've given up Coffee a couple of times confused and the withdrawl symptoms were awful!
It's not until you come off the stuff that you realise it has such a hold on you, after all, it's only coffee-right?
coffee coffee coffee
at home here I have two cups made at a time... addicted?
moi?
youbetcha
shakes and sweats, just like the old alcoholic when i dont get my fix....
..how sad is that?
it goes along with another adiction too... coffee and a cigerette...mmmmnice!
if one goes, the other will have to go also... bugger!
lp
We only drink decaffinated tea and coffe here... I probably drink anything between 10 - 15 cups a day so I was starting to resemble a startled rabbit cuaght in headlights :lol2: I have never noticed any difference in the taste dunno
I luffs my cup of tea in the morning :smug:
I've started drinking my coffee black lately and I've had so many cups this morning I've got indigestion confused
I can't drink real coffee in the evening as the caffine keeps me awake into the small hours. I have caffine to blame for watching some of the worst TV in the world. Those bloody quiz shows mad and the truly shite films :x

That's how I have mine. I wonder if that's why I get indigestion sometimes then? dunno
Oddly enough I noticed that I am no longer as bloated as I used to get. redface
I aught to try and cut down on my tea drinking again and have more water!! Last time I did that though I got terrible headaches and really suffered, so started on the tea intake again!!

That's call withdraw symptoms, you can get past them. Then you feel as good as new, if not better. I did. Then back on the coffee again. I just can not say no.

Now if I get a bit preachy here feel free to poke me! I have very strong views on food and diet generally.
I don't touch coffee, IMHO it is a drug parading to be a drink. It can make you edgy, restless, give palpitations, increase anxiety and much more. And you can easily get addicted. The withdrawal headaches should be enough to convince anyone how addictive it is.
I do drink tea (decaf mostly) but limit to 4 maybe 5 cups per day (ideal is 3 i used to keep to). I try not to drink tea after say 9pm at night and switch to herbals teas. I like red bush too, with or without milk.
On the subject of avoiding anything coffee flavoured, i do agree, I used to do the same especially in the early years of giving it up, however I drink a coffee substitute which is made from barley and rye and most coffee fans I offer it to think is disgusting, I love it and can only describe it as dusty coffee!
Good luck and I am SURE you will feel much better for living without it!

Thankyou that was a very encouraging report. I don't think I'm over it yet as there must be residual withdrawal symptoms. at work. But for this month I've done okay without the caffeine.
Except I did have some Lucozade and one or two fizzy drinks which contained caffeine. But as long as I know what and where it comes from I should be okay.
cool
just realised i drink to much coffee bolt

Don't get me started on fizzy soft drinks!!! Grrrr (said she having half a diet coke last night! - whoops halo does slip occasionally!))
The more you can drink with the less in it the better, for example drinking lots of water or diluted pure juices can easily weigh out the occasional sugar laden drink. Apply the triangle theory - the bottom being lots of the good stuff and the top smaller portion being the crap but OK to drink in moderation or occasional use.
I know what I should and shouldn't drink and but don't get obsessed about it, in moderation I say.
BTW I really enjoyed the diet coke I had last night in bertween my 3 bottles of Bud!!

I'm a caffeine freak lol I cant function in the mornings until I've had at least a couple of cups of good strong coffee, come break time I crave it just as much as I do a fag
Its a little off-topic, but one of my favorite things in the world is to sit chatting to a friend / someone new over fresh coffee, fag in hand, putting the world to rights - its habit, I enjoy it & its also part of the 'package' I buy into in the social scene here - and I'm dreading July  wtf am I gonna do then? no smoking in public places = no more coffee meets unless I review my no house-calls policy or simply stop smoking because someone else says i'm not allowed to (:kicksmile
I don't drink tea or coffee and never have. I do have the odd hot chocolate but mostly stick to water.
If I want a fizzy drink I have shandy bass or lucozade if I'm feeling yuk.
If I do have something (VK) with caffeine in it my body reacts immediately. It's like I've overdosed on pro plus and it keeps me awake for ages. confused
Good for parties, bad for workdays lol
Stick with it if you can, you are defintely better off without it.

Heavens, where have been?? I didnt realise this?
Would prefer to drink tea all the time if I could, but too much can produce kidney stones in some cases. As I`m on the road all day with no guarrantee of getting a hot drink, its a flask of coffee with the milk kept seperate. Also, tea stews in a flask and taking hot water and tea bags doesn`t work either as the water has cooled down by the afternoon.
But, dont give me a coffee made with Camp coffee and sterilised milk
