ran out of space....is there any truth that children brought up by single (mothers)parents through hardship and pressures of life turn up to be very hard working and ambitious than people raised by both parents...?

No !
does it matter?

I personally don't think so no!
I believe that this is another nature vs nurture discussion.
True some children from an "both parent" upbringings may not feel the need to pull their weight as they may have had it easy and therefore will not feel the need. but then i grew up with some kids that were from single parent families and felt judged for being so, and then endeavoured to "prove" themselves, but then I have also met kids who just couldn't give a damn either way.
Surely it's not the amount of parents that make you into a hard working person but, by the lessons parent/s have instilled in their young, in how to get on better in life? Ie put more effort in get more out of life?

Ooh, another example of stereotyping.
Nope, if anything the opposite's the case in my experience. Yup, that's more stereotyping for you.

Pretty much what I'd have said
You do make some wide, sweeping assumptions Phuckers, for one who doesn't appear to like being judged or stereotyped confused
I think it depends on the Child, the parents, the environment around them, educational standards, opportunities, a whole host of things or outside influences could have impact on a child. It doesn't matter what the family circumstances are....
I've seen young people from all walks of life make amazing achievements early on in life...
I know of no research into this, but experience tells me that one parent is as (un)likely as two to produce a spoiled brat with an unrealistic sense of his or her place in the world.
I think it's a quality (of parenting) thing - not quantity (of parents).
My sister and I were brought up by our dad who worked fLucking hard to give us what we wanted and needed granted he had alot of help with childcare etc from my grandparents to enable him to work which not every parent single or otherwise has, I work just as hard along with my husband to ensure we keep a roof over our kids heads.
My dads partner was a single mother of 5 kids who never worked. Three of her children have had children and think its ok to allow the state to pick up the tab for the 9 children that they have between them... They never saw their mother work for what they had so in their eyes its the norm to not work mad makes me so angry.
I think it depends on the values instilled in them that makes the difference not whether the parent was single or not!.

By 'truth', do you mean that's your opinion, or do you have anything to back up that statement? Or is it just a question?

They don't have to be the product of a single parentage to be under pressure though wink.

Been watching Sesame Street?
Nope.....I had two very hard working parents and several very hard working older sibs and I'm a fecking layabout rolleyes lol
I think that each case should be taken on its own merits whether single parent families or two parent families etc etc, However I feel that there is a point in which the advantages of having two working parents one of which at least is working does make a difference.
I stress again that each case should be on its own merits, although i feel that there are on average distinct disadvantages to single parent families especially those on state welfare benefits. This can show in the children and how the children perceive their future roles in life.
I wish i knew how to Google the stats from govt sources to back this up but I'm not that good at asking the right things in the right way from Google.
