Generally, allowing for some hiccups, things seem to be settling down and working reasonably well - and there are some good improvements.
The worst change appears to be the removal of the "distance away" information from the profiles. Even where the location is included, some of the choices that the system offers are so obscure that people who live more than a couple of miles away will not have heard of many of them. (I had never heard of Greenhill, for instance; apparently it's an area of Harrow only one mile away.) This means that you have no idea whether people are 5 or 500 miles away, which is particularly irritating in the chatrooms. Was this a deliberate change or an oversight?
The other thing I have noticed is that the List of Members (which used to appear when you click the Recent Posts box on the Forum page) is now a dead link.

It's not quite the same, but I sorta like the "Who's Where" option on the right under Site Stats. It does a similar thing.
From what I remember, the list of members hasn't worked for a while.

that aspect of the new look worries me cus ppl cud leave awful msgs on others profiles and theres no way to take it off
The profile holder should be able to remove the Quickie messages from their profile... there's a little x next to it ;-)

Clicking the blue x doesn't work.
But you could do what I did, and pm an Admin, and ask them to delete any messages that are on there.
Then I wrote in capitals "PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ME ANY MESSAGES HERE - please pm me thanks"

Nope its no good, I am assuming the new photo galleries are now flash based or summat, but they wont load on my all singin all dancin PC past the thumbnails. We have flash galleries on our own website,in fact its all flash based, and we manage to load all the pics on there in a split second, but here all we get is pretty Loading Flowers.

The Quickie message is exactly what it says it is, a way of leaving a quick message for someone. Admin and others have already explained that you do (or should have) the option to delete these if you dont want them, however, as Anais also said earlier, it appears that this function is not working on everyones profile at the moment, but it will be very soon.

It's a good point.
When it's working properly, any messages would have to be authorised by the recipient before they would show on your profile.
So any bad ones need not be shown. But receive any good ones, as you say, and it's a verification system by another name.
I think the "quickies" are a cock-up and should be unplugged. (lack of the right technical word here lol )

i mentioned my private pics were all on public display in the sticky steam room, i was told it hadnt happened to anyoe else , appears form this threa dit did.
thank god i log in most days cuse the pics could have been sat there for ages.
the stupid stupid quickies idea is stupid. ppl can write what ever they like and at the mo problems deleting this, and you have to delete it, what if its there for days?

Yep......... I have to say ......... I don't like the "quickie" ...... it is open to abuse ...... and it's like a sneaky verification thing!
If you want my comment ......... delete it completely!
Apart from that I think the changes are for the better ...... will just take a little gettng used to ......... but I DONT like the "quickies"
What happens if you are away for a while & someone with a grudge posts "rubbish" in your quickies?

i understand that i can delete them when that function is fixed...however....as they are published immediately rather than approved by the profile owner.....if i dont log in for a couple of days, an "undesirable" message may have been sat there for a couple of days without my knowledge?
im not toally against verification, not at all, i do think we need clarification though, seeing as the site has always been against it and quickies are open to interpretation and will be used as a verification system.

I've been told by an Admin bod that when it's working correctly, they won't show until you have ok'd them to be seen.

ahh so the immediate pblishing of quickie messages without approval is a glitch?? thats better....but tis still an avenue for verification.

I have really crap pc and it I was amazed when it worked ok - it did take a few minutes to load, then I could move quite quickly to the next photo.
Do you have vista? Wonder if its anything to do with that? dunno

i like to sometimes use the common sense that my dad always said i didnt have lol

I like the 'mood' bit at the front but I can't see any other changes.

Yes I do run Vista, and the latest versions of everything. I agree the cookies usually take a while when you first encounter a flash site, but my connection is blistering fast and they just keep on loading for ages with no results. We would be really grateful if someone techy could give a clue what might be at fault as we are trying to update all our galleries wiv new perv pics and cant get the pic pages to load

no i think everyones got them...ive just sent you one....you should get a flashing green envelope and it should take you to your profile, scroll down and you should see it?

Those that are for keeping this quicky verification, perhaps, may change their mind if they log on to find a message has been posted by a disgruntled meet exposing their identity, telephone number and address. Hi Pol. just to clarify what has been covered somwhere in this mass of posts. When you go into your profile it looks like your private photos are showing but they are only visable to you, or anyone you have given access to. No one else can see them so they are safe.
Also the quickies will need to be aproved by you before they are shown on your profile, and as explained in the posts above, this is presently a glitch and will be sorted very soon.

EDIT: Okay... I still can't delete my quickies but they might well be the only quickies I get so I shall investigate further in case the answer is here already! ;)
