Are we being too judgemental?

Hi all - the missus and I have been flicking through the ads. occasionally since we joined SH and most seem reasonable - even if we wouldn't partake in some things ourselves. We're both a little shocked, however, by the number of people who appear to be willing to take what seem to be huge risks (often with total strangers) in pursuit of a thrill. Of course only the people concered will know if they're genuine and would go through with it but we both find the thought of some of these scenarios alarming frankly and wonder why people are seemingly prepared to take such enormous, potentially life changing and/or life threatening risks for a bit of fun.
Really, not meaning this to sound like any form of rant - it's just an issue we've been wanting to raise for some time.
Here's to everyone having some good, clean and safe fun!
There are many people for whom the fantasy is the fun, not the reality. Even those who do swing on a regular basis still have fantasies which they enjoy indulging in, but would not make a reality.
You are right, there is no way of knowing if some of the more extreme offers are genuine, there is a whole genre of people who simply get a kick out of posting on here - whatever the subject and content.

such as what? dunno
As long as there is consent between all parties involved who are we to judge what other people do for a thrill.
You may think it's a huge risk, but no doubt you play with you own set of rules and they are entitled to play with theirs, even if they are different from yours.

Oh, I'm sure they're talking about the 'pregnancy risk' and 'bareback' stuff.
Some of it may well be genuine - but I've been following some of them for a couple of months now (academic interest only, of course - oh, OK, my job's pretty boring, alright??? wink ) and you find interesting patterns all over the place - like 2 ads that will appear with almost identical text, but different pictures - so these are either fantasists or pic collectors. Then, you'll find the same ads, same pics, with different names used. (Well, OK, you might want to hide your own identity, but normal sensible people would use the same pseudonym all most of the time). Other patterns crossing the different categories appear too.
I'd hate to guess how many ads are actually genuine, but I'd put money on most of the 'female seeking couples', and a fair number of the 'couples seeking couples' ads being fake.
After many years on the internet none of this surprises me, and I'm sure most other people wouldn't be surprised either.

Yoiu're quite right BC and that's why I specifically didn't say they shouldn't be allowed to do it, just that we wouldn't for the reasons I mentioned.
Naughtynymphos - saw one ad for example which mentioned the desire to have unprotected sex and no contraceptives as the risk of pregnancy was apparently the big turn on! Not for us it ain't smile
I agree that most of those ads will be fantasy, but if they're not, so what? I spent many years doing an extreme sport where death or serious injury was a very real possibility. Several friends were killed doing it. They knew the risks but decided the risk was acceptable. This is the same. So long as people are not harming others or doing illegal stuff then it is up to them what they do.

I know the points you are trying to make - and having met you know what genuine and fun people you are but do think it is a case of each to their own. :)
