Yes I know another one of " those " subjects. lol
Have a look at this link and see if the blood boils or not. This story was also highlighted on the BBC news last night.

So the question is.....Are we mugs?
I do not blame the family one bit. They have taken what they have been given, and seems entitled too. The thing for me is when local councils scream they have no money, when they cut back on essential services for our old folk,or our schools, they seem to easily find the money for things like this.
Surely the benefit system was never intended to be this way? It was always supposed to be for people that were destitute.
Is this kind of thing right? As I have said I do not blame the family here, but surely somebodys head should be on the chopping block?
An emmotive subject here, so hopefully some good constructive arguements.
I think it sucks..... also all these councils hoarding money, land and buildings too.
It's not the best solution but the councils have a duty to re-house, unfortunatly there are not many social houses left ... let alone 7 bedroom ones !
The thing that irks me about this is that the landlord has seized his opportunity to make more than he would in the private sector.
Lets hope this is just a short term measure and alternative housing is found soon, i fear it will not be.
True Flower.
It would be cheaper to put this family into a bloody 5 star hotel.
My local council is thinking of not having Christmas lights this year, as it has not got the money....I wonder why?
I wish everyone would not pay their council tax and see where that leaves them. As I always say " its so much easier to spend someone elses money ". Bloody coucils stink...in my opinion.

But the Commissar is running scared.. they put all their money in Iceland bank accounts and now the tax paying British Public will have to pay all over again!!!

wtf these councils doing with such large deposits (of Council Tax payers money) anyway when all they seem to do is increase the Council Tax above inflation year on year???
oooops sorry.. hijack over
bolt

We don't need to read the sun, we just get our daily fix from you!
I think it is totally unacceptable how these things can go on in this country. It beggars belief.
My parents bought 4 children up in a one bedroom upstairs conversation of a house.
They had a sofa bed in the living room and we all slept in the one bedroom. No bathroom and an outside toilet, they only got a counsel house as our home was condemned.
The eldest was 14 and the youngest was 3 when we moved. I know why my parents never qualified way back then for a council house because my dad worked hard and paid his taxes etc.
Private landlords were raking it in then and still seem to be doing it some 40 years on.
It isn’t something that is new to this country, just now hopefully they do have a duty to keep the house In a habitual condition just
I dont blame the women for taking the property, its the council that appear to be wasting money here,
In the small street where i live all of the houses are under occupied (all 3 and 4 bedrooms) with a maximum of 3 people living in each I have a 3 bedroomed house myself and there is 3 of us when i questioned the council about this they said it was because technically i was still young enough to go on and have more kids, (which wont happen) but they saw it better to give me a larger house now than to have to rehouse me if i had more kids dunno
Many of the tenants have lived here for many years, my neighbour moved in 40 years ago with 7 kids now she lives on her own in a 4 bedroomed house (which has been modified to suit her disabilities)
It doesnt make much sence to me loon
coffee
This is NOT an isolated case either.
I have no objections if there is a contribution from the tenant, but in this case the people have never done a days work here. lol Thank God for the taxpayer eh, otherwise this country would have no money left at all!!
Like me poor old Dad, who is in a residential care home for a few weeks. He has worked hard all his life, everything he owns he has brought from money he has paid tax on but.... and here's the but, if he was to possibly stay in residential care for a long period of time, he would have to use HIS savings to pay for that care.
Sorry but this story just highlights for me, the councils dreadful workings. How can people come over here with no money..no job...seven kids, and we pay for it. Sorry but with my Father having to possibly use up all his money he has already paid his tax on, to pay for his care, when others get it for free, when they have NOT contributed.....stinks. mad
When your local borough say next year an increase is on the cards, we all know where our money is going, and how much of it is being wasted...thrown down the drain on things that should never happen.

Ah so you do then
Her son is old enough to be working - how old are her other 'children'?
It stinks, sorry. It's disgraceful that she's been handed that house and that the landlord is paid so much. She's hardly living on the breadline is she? She can afford to shop at Morrisons and buy luxury items like Doritos.
I thought councils had to provide three bedrooms where there were children of both sexes - not one bedroom each?

We live in a three bedroomed house and on our tenancy agreement it states that 6.5 persons can live within our property, so that would mean a 4 bed house at lease for her, bearing in mind that the council can and will class the living room as a room which can be slept in!.
I find the whole situation disgraceful.
What did I think of the story? I pissed me self laughing at what the reporter wrote. They took a story, used some of the truth and then lit the touchpaper and stood back for this type of debate.
This is why the Sun is great to get debate started, because the stories are not quite true when you start picking away at it.
I love buying and reading it cos it makes me giggle..................and I like Hagar.
There is one story this week about the Fire Brigade not being allowed in a smokers house to fit a smoke detector by the H&S Nazi's. This had me rolling on the floor in laughter...............but it got a lot of people up in arms tho.

From what I know they have used all the truth.
They should be forced to work to pay for their free ride, at OUR expense. Dont moan when your council tax rises next year, to pay for these freeloaders.#
Not a dig at you dave at all. Ain't the Sun a scream at times? lol
confused While were at it why are we not sticking the boot in at all the social security blaggers, the drop a sprog for a flat brigade, the disability allowance scroungers? dunno
I say fair do's to the family coz who in their right mind in the same circumstances would turn down a Million plus house?
Fair do's to the landlord in being able to get the sky high rent for it.
It's a situation created by successive governments by selling off houses for votes, not replenishing housing stocks & creating a 'must buy your own home' ethos.
Who can we blame for all this?
After all the goverments were voted in by the public!

So your saying it is the publics fault? :dunno:
The benefit system was never intended to be used this way. It was intended to help those that were destitute. There is a massive ammount of scroungers out there, we all know that.
Doing something about the welfare state, is a massive hot potatoe. This story just highlights the mad pc country we now live in, where an unelected body in Europe can dictate to us who we have to house, and pay benefits too.
I say NO benefits to any immigrant that has NOT contributed to this country for at least 6 months. Why do these people travel through 5 or 6 countries to get here? For the benefits we give them....free.
With the credit crunch affecting most of us, this disgusting waste of taxpayers money, should have all our blood boiling. How many others are we having to pay for? Too many to even contemplate I feel. mad
Still welcome to soft touch Britain, the land of get everything for free.

I have to agree boink
It used to be that after a period of time unemployed that your benefits were reduced in an attempt to encourage you back to work....
Is this still the case dunno

You are sanctioned now. If you refuse to go to interviews/work placements/training courses, in other words, refuse help and refuse to help yourself, JSA is stopped

If i dont attend a 6 monthly interview my benefits just stop, but there is a bit more to it than that,
The last one i got was for pm?? erm yeah ok cant do that and phones to change it they tell me another appointment is in the post. Get the appointment now for after id explaned anytime between 3 and 4 was difficult for the kids coming home from school fair enough point i thought.
Rings up to say cant make that one, gets told if i DO NOT attend this interview my benefits will be stopped. Your punished if you cant make silly appointment times. So what am i supposed to do, why just take my son out of school early or arrange someone to watch him
Dont get me wrong i agree with the interviews but i am at home all day long why send appointments when they know kids are coming home from school

I know its difficult when you have small kids Tan. The problem is, the way the system is structured it offers no leeway. When you 'sign on' you are declaring that you are available for work at any time. The office who deals with claims, takes this statement quite literally and expects you to be available for anythingat any time. You could try asking to speak the the Manager and explain the situation but in my experience, you wont get very far sad
So you all have these hoops you have to jump through in order to get your entitlement...
How come others can walk into the country, not having paid a penny, and get everything they need dunno
Just doesnt seem right......Not to me anyway....

Erm, they cant and I havent a clue where the idea comes from that they can :dunno:
Any person making a claim has certain criteria to fulfil, if they dont fulfil the criteria, their claim wont be successful
