Are women more into the Swinging scene now or in the 60's

well.. i was not born till 20 years later.... so cant speak for the 60s!
however.. i DO feel that woman are able to be a lot more open about their sexuality now.. just like everyone else is.
there are a lot less taboos nowdays.... this makes me wonder if there are actually more open minded people now.. or just more people admit to it?

:dunno: Search me, the 60's was before my time. However i would agree that women now can be much more open and even demanding in their sexuality now, from what i have read swinging in the 60's was much more male dominated where as now the women are certainly the ones in control.

Its great to see other views as I had this discussion with a friend lately.
We put it down to hectic life styles and people work and play hard these days.
In the 60's things were more relaxed (so our conversation went I am only 30)
The stress people put themselves under these days is immense so swinging and partying is the best way of release.

Well I've just been bollocked for asking my mum the same question (wanted an older persons views seen as I'm so young and er innocent).. says she was born in that decade so had no idea of sex till about 20 yrs later!!! (me thinks she's lying but hey ho)

No of course not. If the swinging scene is more lively now than then it will be because it's so much easier to meet up now than then. The main thing about the 1960's was at the start of them most families didn't own a car, and by the end most families did.
Mobility is the thing that has changed everything, include sex crime. Up to the 1960's it's pretty safe to say that if there was a weirdo about most of the local people would know, now all you have to do is jump in your transit and in half a day you can be the other side of the country where nobody knows you.
I was a Costa Brava DJ and later a tour rep and trust me, although I'm not expert on todays girls I can assure you there was no lack of adventure back then. Thank the Lord.

At last I've found a subject on SH about which I can be the resident expert. Bring on the questions.
I guess it was more male dominated, but changing fast even then. The girls who came out for 2 weeks from Birmingham, or Rochdale, or Plymouth or wherever could still suffer from a "bad" reputation back home, but they came out with their best friend on a Dan Air Elizabethan, or a Brittania or if they were lucky a Comet, and shagged themselves silly before returning home.
One memorable girl shagged three of us for the whole fortnight and we never twigged because she had three wigs with her! True.

Can't really compare from experience as I was born in the 70s but I think there are a lot more liberated women around now who can talk much more easily about their sexuality and be able to expect more from sex than just 'man pleasing' (although that is fun too!) Of course a lot is to do with better opportunities to meet people now with the internet and everything, years ago if you were lucky you got a contact magazine and it took weeks to organise anything, now we could chat tonight and be screwing in the morning
On a personal level it is only now that I am able to explore my sexuality so I am making the most of 2004!

I was forever damaged by being considered too young to get into the barn to see the next door neighbour Helen's secret, my brother and his friend got to look and I had to wait outside. I've never got over it.
well my mum and my stepdad were regular swingers with a couple up the road.....they didnt really hide it from us kids - used to run around the house naked while we sat watching Hammer House of Horrors...
and my nanna was always telling me that she refused to marry my grandad until the war was over cos she was having soooo much fun with the endless streams of American GIs. She said it was the best time of her life and women were definitely not shy to take what they wanted.
