I`ve just got back from the hospital with my daughter. She has been having pains for a couple of months that have left the doctors baffled !
So today she had an ultrasound scan .....
Now, the nice man was obviously a bit bored with all the lovely shiny technology at his disposal as he clearly doesn`t often find anything very interesting.....today was his lucky day !! :undecided:
After taking us for a tour around the kidneys, liver, pancreas and gall bladder etc. he was having problems disguising his boredom until all of a sudden he stopped, he sucked in breath through his teeth and asked ..."Where does it hurt ?"
When my daughter showed him he said ..."Yeah....that`s gonna hurt !!"
So he calmly mentioned that she had an ovarian cyst !!!
My ex starts trying to get details out of him and he`s being a bit cagey and in the end actually says outright that he`d rather not discuss details in front of my daughter ....duh!!! I had spotted that right from the start !!!
Anyway ....he suggested we google ....dermoid ovarian cyst.
So now I reckon the time he spent staring wide eyed at his screen was possibly the first time he had actually seen one close up and real and he was trying to contain his excitement. Apparently, it`s a bit rare in girls as young as my daughter so he`s gonna talk to a consultant before they decide what to do !!!!
I`ve googled and been sort of reassured but does anybody have any personal experience of these, it all looks a bit scary to me.

Given your gender flower, it should be!
wb btw
Not much help here as so long ago, but many years ago a girl friend of mine had this, she must have been 25ish at the time, can not remmember her having any thing done. I still see her on odd occations, she is 35 and has 2 children now.
That is all I can remember

Understandable that you are concerned - If it's any help, I've had liver and kidney cysts for 50 years with no ill effect other than pain from time to time, but they were just the sebaceous kind. Of course, it may be different for ovarian cysts anyway, but the consultant should be OK, there are a lot more people with cysts than you might imagine, so do keeping asking questions until you get answers and don't be put off!
My very best wishes to you and your daughter.
Plim
Hello,
Madame Smooth had ovarian cysts that were apparently about the size of oranges removed in the early 80's. Had no problems afterwards other than the occasional 'adhesion' pull which you can get after any operation. Good luck.

Me Lurking !!! ??? :P
Thanks for laying on the "really bloody painful" bit !!! Now I REALLY feel guilty about thinking...
"Yeah yeah yeah"
When it`s time to leave for school and she`s moaning about the pain !! redface
We`re just gonna have to wait to see what the consultants say and then decide what to do.
She`s so excited that she might get to go to hospital for an operation loon

Assure her that you will make every effort to bring all her school-work and home-work to the hospital so she won't miss out on anything. biggrin:D:D:D
You all have my sympathies; it often feels worse to see your child suffer than to suffer yourself.
