I have over the past week been accused, by one of the regulars here of being heatless and lacking in compassion. This could not be further from the truth . I care very much that the unfit and unsound should be intergrated into society and that they should not be condemed or made to feel uneasy about their disability.
For that reason I would like to start the Bring Back Gooners Campaign
Ok , he didnt appeal to everyone and sometimes he was obviously experiencing some sort of mental health problems, but basicaly he was harmless and in need of care. Should we realy have turned our back on him as we did. Its cold out there and he will be suffering now!!

I would like to offer an alternative to your BBG, in the form of BOG (Bugger Off Gooners)

He was piss-taking from start to finish and actually admitted it in several threads. Personally I found those threads quite amusing in the reaction he was getting and voted for him to stay.

If someone has a genuine problem, they will be helped. If they come here to just waste our time running round after them, I'm sorry, I haven't got the time or the energy. I would much rather help people who really do need help. We have enough to do on here as it is without worrying about someone like him and occasionally we also like to have fun on the Site ourselves, when time allows.

Yes, of course we should help the unfortunate. Virtually everyone here has made a tit of themselves at some point. They don't get told to f'off, they get told 'you're making a tit of yourself' and allowed to move on. If they can't move on, it's not the job of the forum to provide them with a place of safety whilst they aggravate everyone else and make the mods' lives miserable, with their inane attention seeking.
Virtually all of us feel sympathy and express concern to those suffering real problems, be they in terms of health or personal problems, but this guy was trolling from his first post, looking only for attention and negative reaction, and goading all and sundry. Life's too short to worry about whether he's a troll or mentally unbalanced, if everyone who behaves like that is treated with kid gloves we'll descend into chaos.
FWIW I wholeheartedly support the bannination* and have no desire to see him back.

I can only echo what other people have said - I got the sense that Gooners was here solely to wind people up and get a reaction. Now, anyone who finds fun in winding people up clearly does have mental health problems, but I don't believe you can help people like that unless they want to be helped; not through the Internet at any rate. If you're there in person and able to look them in the eye, then maybe, but in my experience trying to connect with them in a forum or newsgroup or PM or email is an impossibility, because nothing about the person is genuine.
Gooners will probably look upon him being banned as another notch in his bedpost - I seriously doubt this is the first forum he was banned from, and if he doesn't return here he'll go somewhere else and engineer getting himself banned from there too.

Generally quite harmless - practices a form of catch and release. Nonetheless, he can upset the delicate ecology of a discussion forum. Once a forum becomes aware of his presence, however, all feeding activity ceases and Troller must move on to more promising waters.
