My mouse had sticky balls!
Could someone technically minded please inform this elegant technophobe how to get the mouse's balls back in sync. Instructions in single syllables would be much appreciated. rolleyes
Also, how do I defrag, is it necessary and is it a painful procedure?
Thank you in advance!

I had to do my mouse yesterday so:-
Unscrew the bottom and take the ball itself out. This may sound daft but if you have a short carpet anywhere that doesn't give off fluff roll the ball on the floor a few times and then wipe it clean with your hand - thats the easy bit. It's the best way to get any tiny bits off it - strange but true.
Now you should see three wheels inside the mouse - you'll find stcky black dirty gunk - horrid stuff - around the wheels. It should just scrape off with a biro nib - best not use anything sharp. Just shake out the mouse if any bits get in.
Slap the ball back in and fasten her up.
Good to go !

What version of Windows are you using and how bigs your drive. PM me if you'ld rather
Carpathian (this sort of stuff used to be my job for 11years !!)
Sappho,
to clean the grungy stuff from within the ball housing use some nail varnish remover on a cotton bud,
alternately get yourself an optical mouse, and never have to worry about mucky mouse balls again.... all my mice are optical now.... life is so much smoother....
however as my Hard drive died life is about to get annoying as I try to sort it all out!!!
Best of luck

I'd be talking balls if I was to offer any advice on this matter.

Optical mouse = best solution by a long way !
We sometimes found solvents degrade the wheels over time so they start to get rougher....and pick up muck quicker !

oh, and has anyone mentioned that all those black gunky bits are all the skin and grime that comes of your hands and on to the mouse mat, then your ball picks them up?
