banned!!!!!

hey there everyone, new members here - from hampshire...
just wondering why i was 'banned' from the chat room i was just in.... can anyone help??!!
never been banned from any other rooms - find this quite an insult...
apparently i was asked not to private chat without permission!!!! news to me!!! i simply logged in, and repeated a simple question 3 times, due to no one answering.... "anyone in from hampshire??"
then a chap called 'lion' pc'd me, i had a brief conversation - maybe 4 lines and we parted company.... next thing i know is i have this 'the tongue' giving me verbal!!!!!
i'm afraid i did lose my temper at this point, told him where to get off... but i feel totally indignant and as i said, insulted!!!
i apologise for being negative, but wondered if anyone else has suffered at the hands of 'the tongue'.....
this looks like a great site and we really do look forward to coming on frequently, but HELP!!!

In my limited experience of the chat room I have always found the Tongue to be helpful and polite. There has recently been problems within the chat room due to the influx of people following the Collymore incident and it may well be that tolerance levels are now less than they were before. confused

Older and wiser people please excuse my ignorance here, but I've heard a few people refer to 'the Collymore Incident' in a few different threads.
Exactly what was this ? Is there a thread I could read just to get up to speed ?

hey there again, thanks for the reply, but i don't think you understand,,,, i did NOT break any house rules!!!! there was obviously a faux pas somewhere but not on my behalf!!!
and, as i have said, we are new members.... the collymore incident???

I've never used the chat room... ever!
But I've every faith in Mark's choice of SyOps. They must have been under intense pressure... as we ALL have been who are involved in the running of the site... in the past few weeks since Collymore ( mad

) unzipped his flies for a journalist.
As Jags says, one of them will be back to you... but cut them a bit of slack. If you are genuine, they will see it and point out where you went wrong - if at all. Mistakes can and do happen. And do pause to consider everything here is FREE and the likes of US devote our time for free and it all gets a bit easier if folks try to put themselves in our shoes.

Do the AUP not say 'no private messages without permission'??? Last time I was in there (AGES ago I have to admit) that was the case and it was made very clear by the preamble in very large print.
I have spent some time this morning banning approx 13 people in the ads section who posted telephone numbers, despite it being writ in very large red print that to do so will mean getting banned. What else can we do???????????????
