Planning a barbecue... what makes a good one?
Suggestions for food, drink, music etc welcomed.
Well what goes down well is a large container filled with ice, and the beers in the ice chilling waiting to be drunk..
As for the food you can't beat a good home made burger and anything else homemade..
How about a summer!!!
Summer make for ace BBQ's but by no means compulsory biggrin
BBQ'd fruit is really in this year and that is so cool fruit kebabs, lush.
Make up a marinade with Golden syrup and a slug of spirits - any flavour really. douse your skewers in it and then cook on hot BBQ immediatly for a few minutes brushing with the syrup/booze mix. Serve it with small bowls of Creme Fraiche or Whipped cream to dip in - gorgeous!

Try :-
Pineapples
Strawberries
Banana
Mangoes
Did you see ?
salad dressing is useualy not turned down
chicken, burgers, sausage with different flavours on them chunks of meat on a stick preferably metal not wood thoe
also if you have a tub/bin of cold water as this is used as a cooler rather than your fridge
also some fruit and ice cream and trifles dont go amise but dont make too much as people have useually had enough of meat not too eat the fruit stuff
Its not rocket science............
(1) The woman goes to the shop.
(2) The woman prepares the salad and vegetables
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils, and takes it to the man, who is lounging beside the grill, drinking a beer.
(4) The man places the meat on the grill.
(5) The woman goes inside to set the table and check the vegetables.
(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning
(7) The man takes the meat off the grill and hands it to the woman.
(8) The woman prepares the plates and brings them to the table.
(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
(10) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off." ....................... rolleyes

My speciality dessert seems to go down well with the Wiltshire Massive and easy peasy to make
Peel bananas and cut a slice lengthways enough to fit a small chocplate flake inside. Wrap in tin foil and leave on the barbie until the banana is soft and the chocolate has melted. Drizzle warm golden syrup and sprinkle with chopped nuts and a big dollop of whipped cream

You forgot stray campers that pretend to help so they can get free chocolate
Thinly slice some raw potato, brush with olive oil and make your own crisps.
In a heavy based pan (or a foil parcel) place lots of sliced onion and lots of butter and just leave to go soft.
yummy

Invite me? dunno
cool x
do as gnv said but a minute or so before serving the onions stir in a spoonful of sugar and a glug of balsamic or wine vinegar ---bloody lovely.
Ill pop up and do it for ya if ya like.
Some top ideas, cheers!
Sassy that dessert sounds lush! As do the onions...
Keep the gourmet and all other tips coming!
Dont forget the spices! Cinnamon is allegedly an aphrodisiac as is nutmeg. Cloves to marinate the meat (rolleyes )are middle range aphrodisiac and finally ensure you have the king. . . ginger. .lots of ginger!

I did these for the last Wilts camping social and gorgeous as they were, they were time consuming to prepare in a field with limited space and no fridge but if you're doing the BBQ at home, you could try chopping the fruit the night before and freeze it :D
good idea sassy, it will cook more gently from frozen too.
Real meat and Braai salt.
and the most important thing is a gr8 bunch of peeps that enjoy yr company n like a good laugh, lol
failing any of the above lol just get drunk and order pizza
Prepprepare as much as poss before hand to avoid missing out on your own BBQ.
Also, Butternut squash (or sweet potato) sliced lengthwise into long narrow wedges. (you can leave the skin on - you can even eat it if it's thin) Brushed each side with a good marinade including olive oil, balsamic or rive vinegar, black pepper, paprika. Roast on the BBQ adding more marinade if they look a bit dry.
Corn on the cob - olive oil only, no butter needed later, hardly any salt needed. The BBQ gives all the flavour. They take longer than you think though so always give them a bit extra time.
Some top ideas, cheers!

Funny though! lol
Be honest now...
Who is tempted to put an add in the LETS MEET UP section stating...
"Come to Nola's... all welcome, especially flatulent people with poor oral hygiene..."
Oh Ok... must just be me then...
