When I was new to the site. That is to say keen and horny I replied to an ad. The couple responded and were up for a meet. However, they insisted on going bareback. Hornier and as excited as I was I thought, no way. I didn't know them. I didn't know who she had slept with. It just isn't worth the risk.
Just out of curiousity.
When you give blood they test your blood for many things to make sure it is safe to use. Would this detect all viruses or just the ones that enter your blood stream? Do you need (as a lady) to have a smear as well to detect other nasty little lurkers?
I do give blood and assume that rules out the big nasties, but as I am now swinging more these days. am considering getting regular checks.
I don't play bareback myself, but as it has been mentioned, do realise condoms are not 100% safe.
Standard tests will detect the detectable, ie known diseases. But no one knows when the next new virus will hit. That's what happened with hiv/aids.
I believe there are many more 'things' transmitted between humans than we realise. Things that don't kill you but nonetheless change your overall health.
It is a bit of a minefield isn't it. I got encephilitus nearly 20 years ago now and it was thought that was transmitted either by swimming in the sea in Ibiza or via a mosquito bite, which I don't remember getting while there. That put me in a coma for 6 weeks and nearly took my life (hence not being a risk taker). I value my life far too much.
It just isn't possible to avoid everything though, as there is no method as long as you're breathing in air that is fail safe.
A certain brand of condoms are 2for1 in a certain chemist.... I got two family packs :rascal:
A couple of years ago I had a drunken one night stand and went bareback.. the next day I felt really bad about myself and dirty but shuck it off as a 'these things happen' kind of situation.
A few days later I was quite sore down below and naturally assumed the worst. I went to my GP, who then refered me onto the GUM clinic, which made my suspicions deepen and put me in a very worrying situation as I had to wait a day to go to the GUM clinic.
All in all, it turned out to be a nasty case of thrush, which I'd never had before so I had nothing to compare it to and was cleared up with a pessary they gave me. But as I was there, and the worry I had gone through for 24 hours... I got tested for EVERYTHING.
Still a very worrying situation because for HIV/AIDS you have to return to the clinic after 3 weeks for another blood test to ensure that you haven't picked up anything.
Thankfully everything was OK. I look back on it now, and I feel lucky to have experienced it as now, I take no risks what-so-ever and always use condoms.
If I were to have a long term relationship offline from the swinging world then I wouldn't rule out going bare-back. But that's a long way away, if it'll ever happen at all.. and it may soud harsh but after my experience it would involve a joint trip to the GUM clinic for piece of mind
Why do people buy condoms when you can get a choice of condoms at the clinic?
For those people that think the forums don't make a difference, I'd like to announce that due to this thread I have just rang my local gum clinic and will be having the full works tomorrow afternoon.
Fingers crossed all is in good working order and I pass my service.
I feel quite nervous, anyone want to hold my hand? lol
personally we wont even meet anyone who wont wear condoms for obvious reasons n both have checkups at gum clinic every 3 mths
