Ok, so we're hoping someone out there can help us.....
Got a Sony Ericsson K750i which up until recently we were able to bluetooth videos and pictures onto our computer via a mini bluetooth USB dongle.
Have a video that , for the 1st time is suitable to upload and the bluetooth things no longer working.
For some unknown reason, our computer just doesn't seem to be recognising the licence (we think) 'tis very strange, have a pop up telling us something about Dr watson not recognising the acton??
Anyone a, know what could be going on or b, have any solution?
Have you installed any new software or hardware recently that may be interfering with it ?
Try reinstalling the software and see if that fixes the problem
Sometimes removing Windows looses track of the USB devices. Try removing the dongle, doing a cold reboot (ie turn off completely), start windows then reinsert the dongle into a different USB slot.
have you tried shaking your computer works with my old radio.....only kidding dont know, but sacraticupid idea sounds helpful
you need to re-install the drivers for the dongle. In my humble opinion.
If it is Windows XP then it has just updated itself with service pack three and that can cause problems with some drivers.
Try downloading the latest drivers for your dongle from the makers website or email the makers of your dongle and ask for their technical help.
Firstly which variant of Windows are you using?
If you are using XP or Vista then the dongle software is not required as all the necessary drivers come with Windows.
For XP, plug in your dongle, go to the Windows control panel and open the "Bluetooth Devices" console.
When that's open click on the 4th tab "Hardware" and see if your dongle is being recognised. If it isn't then go to the first tab "Devices" and click on "add", then follow the wizard for manually adding your dongle to the system. There are also some other settings on the other tabs that you can set as appropriate to your system.
Sometimes Windows has a brain fart and uses a different Com port than the one originally set up. I used to have all kinds of trouble with my Nokia software only to find that Windows was playing "hunt the Com port". You can change all those settings from the above control panel applet.
I downloaded the new XP service pack and it caused chaos with my pc.... have had to reload my 3usb dongle, and a few other things.. has caused problems with my video card too...
Wonders of modern technology eh???
:taz:
If you know what the driver is, you can look to see if the service is running.
Click START
Click RUN
Type
Click OK
Al the current services will come-up in the window, along with their status (started/stopped/manual/automatic)
thanks for this - will be trying them out as soon as i can have the computer for more than 5 mins off the kids!
All of the above is good advice, but sometimes it can be as simple as plugging it into the wrong USB port. I have a few USB devices that I hot swap but if I put them in the wrong port it doesn't recognise them and tries to go through the whole software install thing again.
Good luck!
In edit: I just remembered.... the K750i usually comes with a USB cable. Forget the bluetooth and use the cable instead
Off Topic but I dropped my mobile in the toilet today
well, we've tried downloading new drivers - computer just not having it.
It's not showing the cable at all - that stopped working around the same time as the dongle.
We've tried both of the USB ports on the front of the CPU and the dongle works with neither - not tried any of the ports at the back of CPU yet, may try in desperation.
It's bloody frustrating - got some excellent footage and stills on my cam!!!
Suspect the problem lies with software on our stupid PC - if we had the option I think we'd scrap it and start again but sadly, that's just not an option at the moment.
Oh well - thanks for all the good advice

Sounds more like the hardware rather than software. If your PC knew it was there to begin with then suddenly lost it. Drivers and updates don't 're find it' then it might not know what it is, so how will your PC know?
I'll check some support sites and see what other options there are. brb
USB cable and the phone testing:
Do you get any hardware connection wizards appear when you attach your usb cable to the PC and the phone?
Can you test on another person's PC or attach another persons phone?
USB bluetooth Dongle:
Do you have any 'search for new bluetooth devices' software installed for use with your dongle?
Here you can find the simple guide from MS to add new blue tooth devices to your PC; if you can't run the wizard, chances are your dongle has gone curput (dongles do as they are cheap and nasty).
Steps to take on the computer
To add a device, follow these steps on your computer:1. Click Start, click Run, type , and then click OK.
2. In Bluetooth Settings, click Add.
3. In the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard, click to select the My device is set up and ready to be found check box, and then click Next.
Note You cannot click Next until you click to select the My device is set up and ready to be found box. A device that has discovery turned off cannot be detected during a search.
When you click Next, your computer searches for any discoverable devices that are in range. When the search is complete, the devices appear in the wizard.
4. Select a device to add, and then click Next.
After you select the device to add, you can enter a passkey for the device. A passkey is a code that is used to control access to a device. Using a passkey may help improve the security of your connection. However, the device that you add may not require a passkey.
When you enter the passkey, your computer tries to connect to the device to verify the passkey. When you connect to another computer, you receive a message that the computers are trying to connect.
Steps to take on the device
When you have completed the steps on your computer, enter the passkey on the Bluetooth device. If the device is another computer, this computer displays a message that indicates that you are requesting a connection. Follow these steps on the computer that you are adding as a Bluetooth device:1. Click in the message that indicates that you are requesting a connection.
The Add Bluetooth Device Wizard starts and provides a field for entering the passkey.
2. Enter the passkey. You may also choose to have a passkey generated for you.
When the passkey is verified, the connection is complete. The device is now visible on your computer. If the device is another computer, its computer name is visible on the first computer.
On the last page of the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard, you can turn discovery off on the computer that you add as a device. By default, the option to turn discovery off is selected so that the computer does not remain discoverable at all times.
