I have just been talking to someone who has been up Blackpool
for the weekend
One night they went into a pub/club where there was a guy doing a Chubby Brown
act, nothing wrong with that although it's not everyones cup of later on in the act
he had got some sort of equipment that could go into anyones bluetooth phone,if it was switched on,and brought up pictures and video's on to a screen off the being
technically minded don't know how this is done but could be a bit embarrising !
They said the funniest part was people trying to switch their phones off before being "zapped"
Has anyone else seen this act ?
L.B
I've not see the 'act' but unless you set your bluetooth to 'secure' your phone can be raided if it's active/on and the person has the correct software. Also if you are out and about and somebody sends a picture/video to bluetooth and you happen to be within the vicinity, you will receive it too.
What worries me is why some parents allow their children to have bluetooth.
Good point Kiss_me,I would be worried as well if I had young children !
Love the new avatar by the way, could be a new Hank Meowvin !

i used to leave my bluetooth on all the time until someone in my local came across and told me i had some nice pics on my phone  luckily nothing shocking on there but ive wised up now i never leave it on and we've also explained to our three kids about turning theirs off. phones are getting better and more hi tech but its scarey to know that more software is avaliable for people to be able to go into yours with out your knowledge.
sorry just my thoughts.

Indeed. As a phenomenon, it's been around quite a while.
I suggest you Google "bluejacking" and see what you find; there's a lot of info out there! It's been used as a very sneaky way of sending relatively untraceable flirty messages and I know people who've had great fun with it but the main problem has to be the significant security risk if you're in range of someone who knows how to bluehack and you have an open bluetooth connection.
Personally, I never leave bluetooth active on my phone anyway - and frankly for no other reason than the fact that it just drains the damn battery far too quickly! rolleyes
Mobile phones can be very vulnerable - people don't yet think of them in quite the same way that they do their internet-connected PCs, but in some ways the risks are even greater because of that! Mobile phone viruses have been around for a while too and with phones being readily connected to PCs for uploding photos and so on they can be a sneaky back door for those who write and propagate malware. mad
Secure your phones, boys and girls - it's the only way!

cool
I have bluetooth.......... I have never had any issues.. I was also involved in the development of it on a certain mobile fone network many moons ago in my previous life.
The issues that you are talking about are phone manufacturer specific. I am not sure which handsets have this open access policy... but what I can say is that Sony Ericsson does not allow anyone access automatically. It has be granted by the owner of the handset.
So if you want to prevent someone having access then get a Sony...
lol
My Nokia 6320 also requires my authorisation for access. Once had two blokes in a Transit van drive right up close to me and send me bluetooth message, needless to say I declined the request!
My bluetooth is always on cos I use the mobile a lot in my car and it automatically connects itself when I turn the ignition on. As any other access has to be allowed it's not a problem leaving mine on.
cool
Bluejacking is quite legal, yet annoying, it is bluesnarfing that is the stealing of content and such..
But, if people are crazy enough to have certain things stored on their phones like pin numbers etc, then more fool them really...
u had me all worried for a min there..
but i have a sony erricsson phone and i have to accept if i want to add a new contact to my blutooth. ...
