I am sorry to have to ask this on the forum and please, you can PM your reply. I have a Mac Powerbook and have today got my Motorola V3 phone. I would like to be able to access the internet on my laptop using the bluetooth facility on my phone. How do I do this? Thanks.
Turn on bluetooth on the phone and the laptop and enable one to search for the other, as long as they are close to each other this should be no problem.
Accessing the internet via a mobile phone is not cheap! Is this something you really want to do?
I'm not sure if your powerbook will have Bluetooth built in to it, if it does then given my experiences with Macs it'll probably set itself up. If not then you'll need a USB Bluetooth dongle - they look like USB memory sticks, cost £10-20 and give your computer the ability to talk to Bluetooth devices.

I wasn't aware that it was that expensive. All I want to do is be able to pick up my mail when I am on the move. Maybe I should be patient and wait til I get home.
Best use a wi-fi point. Wi-fi cards for Mac laptops are about £50 and can be used with any speed broadband (subject to the connection speed). Bluetooth internet however connects via a normal phone modem at about a second ( is a standard slowdem). Getting your mail might cost a lot more than you thought surprised

If all you're doing is picking up email then it's unlikely to be that expensive. You probably wouldn't want to spend long browsing the 'net though.
As someone else has suggested, getting a wireless ethernet card (airport on Macs, you may already have it) would allow you to access the 'net via wireless hotspots in Internet cafes, hotels, some trains, etc. Having both would give you the most flexibility.
Oooer and there was me thinking I was the only mac user around these parts lol..... glad to see I ain't alone.
Anyway, on to your problem, your powerbook has built in support for bluetooth version 2, your razr is version 1.1 but they should be able to communicate without any trouble.
To enable your mac bluetooth ( if it isn't already) click through Maintosh hard drive, X system folder, LIbrary, core services and finally bluetooth launcher.
You now need to search for the mac from your phone, not sure exactly how it works on the razr, but there will be a 'search for new device' or 'new paired device' somewhere in there....
once you have them paired you need to tell the mac ( via system preferences, sharing tab on in internet, network and sharing) click 'internet' and select 'bluetooth device' from the drop down ( it will only be available when you have an active pairing)
now you are ready to cook with gas ( or bluetooth as the case may be), but... as jgl pointed out, net acess via your mobile is defineatley not a cost effiecent way of connecting, and certainly not if all you need to do is access your email.
I think I am right in saying that the razr has the ability to send and recieve email directly, just set up remote access from your mobile service provider to whichever email address/'s you need to get at, far cheaper, quicker and to be honest, lots less hassle.
Hope this has helped, if not feel free to pm me with any other queries you may have.
not sure if this will be any help but i set my email on my phone 2 accept pop email so i can get my mail on phone without connecting 2 internet
you just gotta find your pop settings & enter then into phones email server
hope this helps steve smile
Thank you all for the responses!! You people are so lovely. I think I have enough info now to get me started. If a Mod feels it is necesary, I don't mind this being locked now.
Thank you so so much. It's also nice to know that I am not the only MAc nut on here. :
