Santé!!
Bonne Fête à tous !!
I've just returned today from a work trip to France, Marseille, Bandol...
Such a lovely area and such lovely friendly people who went out of their way to communicate in English where they could knowing I don't speak French.
Great food, great, hospitality. I shall return.
Have a great day.
The French love a bit of Irish... they especially have a taste for proper whiskey.
I can't think why people are so disparaging about our French compatriots really...

Ever been to Paris?
Yes, of course...
Paris has many Arrondissements, well 20 actually, and they are all quite different wink
Quite cosmopolitan and full of non-French Parisians :lol2:

You beat me to that one - I dislike all the parisians I have met, and most parts of paris too.
Very unfair to judge the French by this and the totaly impartial british media reports (banghead) on our gallic chums though
If everyone did that to us, the whole world would think we a a bunch of 'im a fackin cokernee geeza ineye and everyone else is a bunch o cants!' off eastenders, with similar behavioural traits.
Every other french person I have met has been very pleasant.
Although when I was in france they really didnt seem arsed about celebrating their national day I would stil wish them all
Joyeux Quatorze Juillet!

Hell no
They all had the day off lol
They treated it the same as any other day off, no banners, flags or people celebrating. There was a parade in Paris, but where I was staying no one seemed to care and just shrugged if you mentioned it
I suppose St. George's day is the same, no St Patrick's day or 4th of July, but I see a few England flags and sports tops come out.
There's always a défilé du Fête Nationale (National Day parade) in Paris on the 14th. You can't miss it if you live in Paris! Truly awe-inspiring.
Tanks, soldiers, marines, artillery on horseback, Police Nationale, Gendarme, armée de l'air, légion étrangère - the foreign legion pioneer corps with their polished axes  truly terrifying - and the French equivalent of the red arrows to mention a few! A real show of strength filling the Champs-Elysée for nigh on 2 hours.
Later, for the higher orders, there's a garden party in the grounds of the Elysée Palace hosted by the President. A somewhat lavish affair by all accounts - I mislaid my invitation so unable to confirm lol
I always used to enjoy the Trooping of the Colour in Horseguards - the UK's equivalent parade - but in recent years, the wankers in Whitehall have managed to reduce this to half a company of Guardsmen on parade making a mockery of the whole thing
