Am seriously thinking of having this op, i know its quite a big operation, and you always hear of girls having breast enlargement, and lots of horror stories but you dont hear much about reduction operations, i would just like to know has anyone had this op or know of anyone who has?

I know nothing about breast reduction, but my initial reaction would be
DON’T DO IT!!!!!! wink
However, if you are suffering pain and it is affecting the quality of your life, I guess it is something that you should consider.
I know someone who has this op done on the NHS several years ago after she developed upper spine problems caused by the weight of her breasts
She was reduced in size from 36 HHH to a more comfortable 36 E and has never looked back.
The main problem she seemed to encounter was being strapped up for weeks afterwards and of course having to take care that her young children didn't knock or elbow her if they were on her lap.
If you're truly unhappy with your size and are able to do something about it, then I would say go for it smile

i have met 2 women from the swinging scene who have had this op and both of them have said its the best thing they have ever had done, both had minimal scares and felt a lot better for it, its ok men saying 'don't do it' but its not them that have to walk round with the discomfort and pain. If your docs says it ok i'd say go 4 it if u feel u need to smile

i had a ex who had the op... it was beginning to affect her health... small back big boobs....
she went down a few sizes and she has never been happier, i think for her is was also a confidence thing as well....
if it is what you want.. and are doing it for you and not anyone else... then i don't think anyone is going to begrudge you that at all....
good luck with your decision...... xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

If it is purely for medical reasons then I would have to agree - and the responses on here so far are very positive.
Purely a personal thing, but if its not for medical reasons then I get a little worried about the going under the knife thing for cosmetic reasons. However, that is getting away from your question and the cosmetic surgery stuff has been done on here time and time again.
Oohh and btw - congrats - you just reached the 100 mark!

Thanks all for your views, its not really for health reasons i want to have it done, i think having them reduced would give me a lot more confidence, am deffinatlty not doing it for anyone else just myself, and my partners 100% behind me, he says if it makes me happy then do it.

An ex of mine was thinking of having it done for similar reasons and looked into it. There is a fair bit on the web I think, so definitely do a lot of research beforehand. One of the risks is loss of sensensation in the nipples and in a few cases, they can 'drop off' ... think that's because when they remove the fatty tissue around the breast to do the reduction, they need to reposition the nipple - risk of the blood supply/nerve endings damaged in the process.
ask to see portfolio of the surgeons previous operations
after all its your body and you want the best work done on it that you can afford
A friend of mine had this op done for health problems at the age of 25 as she was getting bad back problems, and, she also has never looked better or felt better in life..... and now she does not get guys talking to her breasts sillyhwoar: rolleyes but they now look at her face even though she is only about 5 & 1/2 feet tall. :gagged:
And she is a LOT MORE confident and looks so much better for the op and when i last saw her she was sooooooo much like the younger girl i knew and grew up with in her mid to late teens and early twenties ......... in that she was her old bubbly self and not trying to shy away from everyone because all she got was men looking at her breasts.
So if you feel this op could help you like my friend then, go for it i say and i hope you feel as good as my friend does now she has had it done.
Good luck in whatever you choose to do, i only hope this has helped you out.
my mate had hers done a few years back
since she was like 12 she hated her boobs and was always in pain
the day she had hers made smaller
was the day she told me now i can be start to live
she did have a lot of pain afterwards but the smile on her face said it all
she went she gave up at 11
wore nice tops became confident inside as well as out
its a truely personal choice
the doctors will tell you all the pro's and cons
wish you well what ever you decide
kiss
An ex of mine also looked into getting it done, so I was subjected to hours of Discovery Health shows about breast reduction ops. They're more complicated than enhancement ops, but similar in procedure. Fat is extracted from the breast tissue, excess skin is removed and the nipple repositioned. They then stitch you back up and it's about a 3 month or so recooperation period, but be warned, they can grow again depending on diet or hormones/oestrogen so in a few years you might need another one.

excatly what she said!!!..
go with what you feel is best.. everyone will have there own biased opinion.. some will say its a good thing and others a bad... but at the end of the day the only person that can make that decision is you.. but before you do make you mind up, just make sure its not something you have not really thought much about... cause its a costly think to have reversed!...

I think this sums it up, and if you've weighed up all the risks, then be happy. All the best.

I don't see why some one shouldn't have the op for cosmetic/happiness reasons just as much as health ones. We have one life and one body (depending on your beliefs) so you might as well be happy in it. I'm only a 34b and i find them a nuisance sometimes...(and I lurrrve little boobies on girls too!).
They say that with cosmetic surgery, the best thing to do is go on personal recommendations. Word of mouth surgeons are supposedly the safest. Best of luck!
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I am no longer Caff (double ff) I cannot use this name any further...................
After losing two and a half stone I went into marks this week and got measured
E cup! Haven't been an E cup since .... god I don't know I think I missed E cup and went straight to FF.
Anyway I bought a D just for the cleavage value
Have lost weight before but the boobs always stayed - I don't want to lose much more off em I love me boobies!!!
Anyway......
This big booby thing runs in the family and my cousin had hers reduced years ago. It all went well and she's got a mighty fine pair! There are the obvious risks but I'd say things have come a long way since she had hers reduced even.
Good luck with whatever you decide babes!
Personally I think boobs rock wink

My mother had a breast reduction. She was a 38 F and went down to a C cup. She said it changed her life for the better. Finally she was able to go into shops and buy clothes off the rack. Her back ache was gone and her shoulders were no longer sore from carrying such a burden.
She had some scarring, but over time they faded. She said the scaring couldnt compare to her confidence and pain free way of life.
I myself, if had the money would do exactly the same. I can now, being the same size as my mother, appreciate what she was talking about.

But if your breasts are so large that they cause you problems with back ache etc, you can get this op done on the NHS as my friend did.
Her GP referred her to have it done in a cost cutting measure aside from the obvious immediate health improvements to her.
He told her it was better for the NHS to pay for this op, than have the cost of her having lifelong back and neck problems, which could potentially cost a lot more.
Have a chat with your GP.

You know, I might just do that. Went shopping yesterday, tried some pretty bras....nada....
The pain in my back is bearable from trying to stand up straight, but as the old story goes, theres more people like me that just put things off.I can recall the time it took my mother to recover. She had to wear a breast plate, made of bandages and such for about 6 weeks and I shudder to think of what would happen if I had to do that in my line of work. I'm sure that the recovery is much quicker now with modern technology.
It also helped my mother because she had my dad, who was so supportive. She needed it and he stood by her.
I'm not saying G isn't, but in some ways, although we've been together for ages, our relationship seems so new and fresh to me and I don't want to burden him either. He's already been my knight in shiny armour on so many other occasions.
Im going to give this some serious thought though!
(((Thank you)))
