I agree. Responsibility begins at home, responsible parents will do all they can to protect their kids on computers.
Suicide rates have always been high in teens, it's a horrible horrible time for them, puberty, low self esteem, confusion, mood swings and peer pressure etc etc. Even without the internet this would still happen, you cannot protect your kids 100% of the time.
I feel so sorry for the kids that feel this is the only way out, maybe there is slight blame on the internet but it cannot be the only blame. Between 1990 and 1997, the rate of suicides decreased for males and females in all age groups - now the internet was taking off big time then so wouldn't you have maybe seen an increase?
Incidently schizophrenia is thought to rear it's head in teenagers making them more suceptable to suicidal thoughts - and that doesn't come from the internet.
