for one had a very pleasant evening, and would like to echo all the thanks that has already been extended to Minxy & Co for the organisation of a wonderfull evening.
not being the most courageous in a social setting, I had to be cajoled from my corner... mob-handed.. though I was just about to burst forth... i was... honest!!!..
thankyou to those who were brave enough to say hello...
I only wish I were also able to approach others as well
(is it just me... or do others also find it difficult to eye name badges??? They are a brilliant idea, don't get me wrong... but blimey!... having to eye all those cleavages etc... a boy could give the wrong impression! I'm shy...)

wow my first munch...
A great night spent with some lovely people.
Nice to put some faces to names.
A massive thanks to all who organised it,and made the night go so wonderfully.
I had a fabulous time even if I didn't get to chat to as many people as I would have liked,unfortunately nerves took a grip.

It's possible that it originated up North. The Manchester ship canal allowed Manchester to link to the coast and become a shipping port. The Alley O may refer to the Atlantic Ocean. But then again it's a children's rhyme and they are often a bit of nonsense and the origins can be very hard to trace.
Thats very similar to the only piece of info I found on the net as well. On a forum that I have forgotten some guy said his grandfather a sailor always called the Manchester ship canal the ally aly oh or the illy ally ohh whichever version you read lol

There is a book I have been told about that explains nursery ryhmes I will have to see if I can track it down. Thanks for the input.

Driving over a thousand million plastic bottle tops sounds rather like driving over about 8 layers of huge bubblewrap :? Added to the view of people wandering past with silver blankets around em ..... all made for a rather surreal drive home, especially with a hangover and in the middle of Bath where everythings orange anyway :?
