Hey,
Was sat at home tonight and saw that 'Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels' was on ITV2 and was wondering, whats your favorite British made film new and old.
My favorite is 'Love Honor and Obey', which is a great film but then so is ' Sexy Beast'. So many to choose from......
As far as Oldies......i love 'Carry On' films as they remind me of my dad..........
Whats yours
Paul
lol
james bond mmmmmmm a man in a suit every time and they all generally look goodddddddd
I do love British made films - I reckon were pretty flipping good at it!
The Englishman who went up a Hill but came down a Mountain
Little Voice
all the Danny Boyle films - fantastic!
Sweet Sixteen - Ken Loach (his films are great - also made some brill tv series!)
Heck far to many to mention... and I haven't even started on black and while films!
Nice thread Tigg smile
Loved Goodbye Mr Chips
Up the junction was another good good film oddly with Dennis Waterman who was brilliant in this and then Sweeney, after that what the fu*k happened to him.
Quadrophenia, my personal favourite

Goodbye Mr Chips and Quadrophenia are both amazing films and 2 of my all time faves.
I'd choose classics like A Matter Of Life & Death, 39 Steps, The Hammer films, Cider With Rosie, Arsenic & Old Lace as well as The Carry Ons, Billy Elliott, Trainspotting, Lock Stock, Human Traffic......far too many to choose from I'd say!

snip... What a pity filmfour no longer produces such great stuff

I would only watch it if it had the red triangle in the corner
Whisky Galore, whistle down the wind, withnail and I, Zulu, Passport to pimlico, St trinians (the old ones), the 39 steps . . . . . .
I'm in the Lock Stock,Trainspotting,Layer Cake, Quadrophinia, RocknRolla etc brigade :-)...

28 days later(which i think is british)

It is British (although there might be some yank money involved, such is the way with funding)
It was shot on a budget of about £5million, or a quarter of the fee for a hollywood star and it returned about £50m by the end of its cinema run....not a bad return for something that was partially shot on a £2000 mini dv camcorder. British cinema may be minute in comparison to Hollywood, but this means we have to be more inventive and groundbreaking to compensate wink
This is England,(if you grew up in the 80s a muct see )

If you like that, check out Shane Meadows earlier film 'Twenty Four Seven' with a fantastic performance by Bob Hoskins
What a pity filmfour no longer produces such great stuff

They're still involved in the funding and production process, they just don't 'make' films anymore
Sex lives of the potato men & Shaun of the dead, as well as a few mentioned above.
"Hope & Glory" - makes me just imagine what my dad was like running about the bomb sites in short trousers
