Hi all
Like so many I need to be able to
1, switch the bugger on and not mess about with stuff
2, know it'll work every time without fail
3, pay a reasonably low sum to someone for the service without getting sales people trying to flog me more stuff/services
I also need to
Not have to memorise jargon
Not have to mess with passwords beyond reason
And have service providers that understand that if I py for same I want it there, simple and without fail and if they
So, thanks for the site thingy that tests your broadband speed - but I tried it and it gave me information that I had no way or indeed wish to understand.
When I buy a can opener I expect it to work
When I buy a wardrobe I expect it to work
When I buy an oven etc etc etc
Why not the same with internet services ??
OK

Whilst on the subject of BTBroadband, I thought I'd comment about the recent changes they have implemented.
Woooo Hooo they dropped the price from a month to a month. Fantastic. What the small print tells you is that by accepting the lower price level you also accept a 1Gb monthly download limit.
So what can you do?
By increasing the price back to the they will not only remove the transfer limit, they also increase the speed from 576k to 1Mb. This increase not only takes place without the need of a modem change is actually open ended. So... if your connection ratio drops below the advertised 50 users : 1 modem, the speed can go higher. 2Mb has been seen in the small hours.
Hope that helps someone

Isn't the a 15gb limit and at 512k - that's what it said on my email from BTYahoo. I opted to remain on the and upgrade to 1gb which has a 30gb limit.
My outlook works fine and I'm on XP.
The only problem I had with BTYahoo is that on my PC I have several XP User accounts and the userchooser would only work in the account in which the software it was originally installed. After months of 'support' from BT Support here and Canada, I eventually identified (and cured) the problem myself .
If anyone else has this problem, drop me a PM and I'll email my 'noddy guide' to fixing it (involves resetting the permissions in the registry).
