I want to change mine as its gone up by 30% since i last did it and i'd like to have an idea of what people are paying so i can try to 'negotiate' with my current lot.
I can get cable as well as BT and Sky, so who are you with, what package do you have and how much is it? also, the BB is most important to me so what is your speed/ reliability like?
as a rough guide i'm looking at £20-30 per month...any suggestions?
Sky.... a month,was paying
AOL Broadband and anytime/anyday phones calls... a month, was paying
BT Phoneline only... a month
i don't have a one deal package as it still works out cheaper to do it separately, you've just got to show them that they need you more than you need them, especially Sky i can take it all leave it!
I was paying per month to AOL for Broadband and free call 24/7 but they haven't charged me for four months, so at the moment paying nothing. I know people complain about them but I get 6mbps and pretty reliable.
Also have freesat and freeview in different rooms, much as I like football I refuse to pay Sky a penny as in the past found them to be lying, cheating rip-off scumbags.
So in short I'm paying nothing for a reasonable service!
P.S. Don't tell AOL about me
I use Virgin media probably costs a bit more than some others but you get 20mb BB for a good price plus its fibre optic rather than copper wire and constantly rated as the fastest BB in the UK.
Primus Home Phone Saver month, includes line rental, evening and weekend calls to UK landlines.
Plusnet Value Broadband month, 10GB/ month usage, up to 20Mb speed.
Both providers are good, speed and reliability good too, no complaints here. A budget set up I agree, and may not be suitable for "heavy" usage though.
Depends on what you really need.
If it's speed - then Virgin is the only real option at the moment until BT get Infinity rolled out to your local exchange. They also have a good option if you need 3G for a lappy.
The 50mb is great - the 100mb is 'stonking' for loads of video content downloading. We have the 100mb option with the Apple TV - b brilliant.
If it's a cost issue - any of the 'copper' providers have deals.
If you need home plus travelling wifi - the BT's package with the free openzone option is a good balance.
But with any BT based package (eg sky etc.) the spped you get is dependant on your distance from the exchange - so unless you live almost next door to it you will be unlikely to get 20mb's.
If you just want a 3G connection then '3' have an excellent offer on a dongle + unlimited internet deal.
i am with virgin and i pay approx £25 each month for tv, internet and phone
it varies slightly depending on the calls made
I pay about 45 ish with Sky for all 3, upto 10 meg bb (although can only get 4) all channels except sport and all my phone calls with some mobile calls free
Looking for a cheaper package though as I will probably go to freeview at some point
