I was at work the other day... and an old guy bought some brylcreem... It made me lol and i started to think back when i was a kid and my dad used to get ready to go out and use it.... along with the famous Old Spice after shave :haha:
To be honest... i think he still uses them both now and i'm in my 30's
:haha:
Oh lil ...I thought they were old hat too, but my son bought old spice because he liked the smell, and his dress sense is really good.
Heck, I remember the old spice adverts lol
My dad used brill cream when he had some hair
The stuff the lads put on hair these days tho!!! I try not to touch my sons hair, it stands up all on its own... confused :? :?
I have an admission redface
I used brylcream when i had hair, there seems to be a trend here of people who used brylcream when they had hair lol
But the main admission is i used brut33, splash it all over
my father used old spice, and to this day i still enjoy the smell of it, and when i use it always take time out to remember him.
bugger it, ill buy another bottle today! lol

I think there was definitely a fifties connection with the Brylcreem and Old Spice thing...My father was a RAF regular and I think the Brylcreem was a legacy from those days...As for Old Spice, it still makes me think of warm, steamy kitchens and ascot water heaters and shaving sticks. I bet Dad still has a bottle of it somewhere too... smile
I remember the ointments, lotions and potions from the Seventies more when I was beginning to learn how to shave...

Brut...With Henry Cooper, Kevin Keegan and John Conteh splashin' it all over... lol
Denim...With the evocative denim press-stud shirt being invaded by the manicured hand of a woman who couldn't resist the smell...With the tag line "For men who don't have to try...too hard"
Hai Karate...With the TV ad of a sexually enraged Valerie Peron kicking and chopping her way to a be-spectacled civil servant wearing the "scent of adventure" (Each bottle even - laughingly came with instructions on how to do self defence to fend the woman off - Hai Karate . . . Be careful how you use it)
Pagan Man anyone?
Anyone else out there still permanently scarred from the over-indulgent use of Aqua Manda. Smelt of oranges, felt like battery acid...
Happy memories... :)

I remember them all except for the last one...... was that for men? Sounds more fem...
For some reason Tabac comes to mind rolleyes I think thats how you spell it confused another aftershave.

Werent the RAF lads referred to as 'The Brylcreem Boys'? I seem to remember hearing that somewhere.
I vaguely remember Aqua Manda,or something similar sounding. Its all a distant memory to me at my age
