Are there any rules against 'bumping' threads that you yourself have started in order to get them back to the top of page one of their respective section ?
Cheers in advance for any help.
No, but I'd suggest there needs to be a good reason.
.
On other Forums of which I'm a member you are allowed something like one 'bump' every 24 hours & only once your thread has gone onto page two in order to keep your thread 'alive'.
Do similar rules apply here or does your thread just have to rely on other folks to 'keep it up' as it were ? biggrin

People do it but it does look very dull if that's all you do.

Just seems a bit daft if you've got nothing more to add to it?
Tis fine to bump threads in order to add to em ........ but just to keep them at the top, when they've floated down?? Once maybe, to ask if anyone else has anything to add, but every 24 hours, I can't see the benefit?? dunno
We tend to use common sense rather than a rule.
Mind you, it's a bit annoying to see a thread full of posts just saying 'bump' or  . It shows a distinct lack if imagination or desparation.

Yep
If it`s dropped right down the list surely that means it`s dead and nobody`s interested anymore!
In posting this I've bumped your thread Yerbouti lol! wink
It was ME who kept on deleting your 'bump' post - as it only said 'bump' it was totally dull, as others have said if you need to KEEP on bumping a post then it's obvious that no-one is interested.
Glad you now understand.
Cheers for the replies folks - fully understand where you are all coming from.
The other Forums I mentioned were more to do with information enquiries / sales classifieds etc if that clarifies matters for you smile
Part of the fasination of this for me is watching which topics float smile and which topics sink like a lead balloon. sad Some sink quickly onto the second page and then miraculosly rise from the ashes and become a hot issue biggrin :D .
I have no idea what makes a popular thread any suggestions?

Talking about popular threads, not 'good' ones, I would suggest that a thread called "Young hot lesbians need a man to show them how to enjoy c*ck - any ideas?"would be popular, whereas "What's your biggest scrabble score?"wouldn't be as popular.
wink
I think that timing is everything. Post an interesting topic when the regular "gobshites" are yakking away, and theres a good chance It'll swim. wink
And use the search button if you're thinking of a topic that may have been covered before (such as cock size- I think thats already been done once or twice) and add to an old thread rather than starting a new one just for the sake of it.
And :welcome: kiss
It's a thread about a (possible) meet up on 13th Jan in 'The Lets Meet Up' section btw wink
Well I guess it depends on where the thread is posted......
I don't subscribe to "Bump" or  particularly in the cafe, but we as a couple have had situations where we have posted in LMU, and after 24 hours the thread has dropped onto page 2. of the forum. Now a lot of people (us included), don't always read beyond page one in any forum, so it can be a bit of a pain if you've now dropped off the radar so to speak.
In our case what has happened in the past, is that someone we know comes along, finds it and then (unprompted by us), posts something witty in our thread so it's back on page one, and then hey presto someone else reads it, and we then manage to arrange a meet.......
As has been said, it's down to common sense... don't just post "bump" or  , at least use some initiative, and post something constructive or at least moderately witty. Finally if your thread dies, or gets locked, take it with diginity, move on, and better luck next time.

Erm.... can you post a link to that one? I can't seem to find it dunno
(and I think I wore out the search button trying). :giggle:
