Hiya everyone smile
When I first got this wonderful thing called the internet 3 years ago, one thing I thought I'd never trust was buying items and sending my credit/debit card details online to a company I wanted something from.
After assurances from many who regularly do this safely, I gave it a go......
WOW!!
Amazing the gulf in prices between online and high street. Now I regularly buy online and save a fortune.
For instance, I recently bought a memory card for both my phone and digital camera online.
Camera memory: high st, online
Phone memory: 1GB high st, 4GB online.
What are your thoughts/experiences of online shopping? Do you use it and trust it?
Baz n Vicky :)
I have made purchases via the internet but I always stick to two rules:-
1: Always use well known reputable companies.
2: If they're not well known, ask around and get advice from people who may have used the company you are purchasing from.
Always better to be safe than sorry.
Not only cheaper, but also some obscure things you might not find on the high street. I've bought:
The week's shopping
Books
Rose Plants ( you can actually get a rose plant named after your favourite aunt and delivered to her door )
PC Memory
Printer cartridges
Vacuum Cleaner belts (for an old obscure model)
Air Display Tickets
Theatre tickets
Remember that if you use your credit (not debit) card you get extra cover from your card issuer
Whilst it's true there are lots of bargains to be had, caveat emptor should always be remembered, especially with a certain online auction site. In particular, beware of counterfeit goods (sorry to say this but fake camera/computer/phone memory cards are prevalent

The best bit of advice I can give is to have a separate credit card that is dedicated to online purchases only that makes it easier to track any fraudulent goings-on.
Also, if the price looks too good to be true, then it probably is.
ive been ordering of the net for years now as its so much cheaper and easier to find what you want at the price you want too pay. i also have online banking which i check everytime after ive made a purchase on a website just too make certain everthings ok.
Don't get lulled into thinking the internet is always better......
I've been shopping around for a DVD one of the kids wanted. The cheapest I could find it online, or in either of the two supermarkets which are usually cheapest for DVD's was arond the £14-15 mark. I found it yesterday in Sainsbury's for a tenner!
I usually check prices online, but only buy online when I can't get it at that price on the high street.

Just checked the ones i bought with the advice given in the link you kindly supplied smile
Mine are genuines, happy to say :)
I do a fair bit of internet shopping - especially at Christmas so I can save the browse around the real shops for the really difficult presents.
However, many sites will remember what you buy and make recommendations based on that. I bought my son a couple of D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) books from our favourite book/DVD site many years ago. I'm STILL seeing that type of thing being offered on the recommendations.
I am NEVER buying my Mum any Mills and Boon books from there for that very reason!!
The absolute BEST use of internet (ok apart from the sexy toys you can't pick up in Asda) was when I've been ill/injured and done my weekly shop online and had it delivered. Fabulous.
I often buy online. Christmas is completely hassle free, I get nearly everything online, it's smashing. I used to even do food shopping online but decided I preferred to go in person smile
Depends what it is but i do like buying online... gotta be careful buying from the US though because of customs charges! Boy have I got stung with that a number of times!
Well i also do a lot of my shopping on the internet,,
i made the mistake of shopping on amazon, and now after nearly three grand of shopping,,im still shopping on there at least one a month..
And as for christmas,it is a easy surf round the internet and i know one things saves getting bumped and barged by other stroopy people ,fightimng to get what they want...

You can order pizza online... Trust me there is nothing wrong with it! Mmmm domino's!
I do most of my shopping online including a big supermarket shop once a month.
Im not ya typical female who loves shopping I detest it, doing it online makes it bearable wink
When all my friends and family are getting kicked in the shins, tripped up by pushcairs etc, Im sat in the comfort of my own chair, picking and choosing till my likkle hearts content biggrin
I buy on line some times, depends what I want and if I want to go round the shops or not first.

I like wandering around tesco/sainsbury. I find I tend to trip over people there that I haven't seen for years. And also people who would prefer not to see me. Mainly guys who wander around the gay cruising areas....in tes/sains they are with their families.
Mind you, there was a local "couple" doing the layby rounds once....except in tesco the guy seemed to be with another woman.... confused:
In any case, don't you just love the hotter weather....especially in the freezer isles.....thin "T" tops along with cold air......
I also "do" ebay....with the use of paypal or a pre-paid cash card....and I never NEVER *N E V E R* respond to emails from either paypal or ebay requesting details....there are a pot of thievin' b'stards out there, and most are trying to scam ebay/paypal/bank details

I'm talking more about the supermarket staff....next time you're in a supermarket they use to pick & pack for online shoppers, just take a look at what the staff do with the shopping!
It's especially gross in the fruit & veg aisle where everything is uncovered- really turns my stomach to watch some of the staff coughing & sneezing all over the food (not to mention throwing it around) and knowing it will be turning up at some unsuspecting shoppers door. :?
(I can't order pizza online anyway- no-one delivers out here evil )

I'll deliver one... :rascal:
As for the foody bit, I can only imagine the horrors WW... I used to work at the Deli dept in my teens at a well known supermarket and the goings on in the chillers would make your toes curl!
