I have made purchases via the internet but I always stick to two rules:-
1: Always use well known reputable companies.
2: If they're not well known, ask around and get advice from people who may have used the company you are purchasing from.
Always better to be safe than sorry.
Not only cheaper, but also some obscure things you might not find on the high street. I've bought:
The week's shopping
Books
Rose Plants ( you can actually get a rose plant named after your favourite aunt and delivered to her door )
PC Memory
Printer cartridges
Vacuum Cleaner belts (for an old obscure model)
Air Display Tickets
Theatre tickets
Remember that if you use your credit (not debit) card you get extra cover from your card issuer
Whilst it's true there are lots of bargains to be had, caveat emptor should always be remembered, especially with a certain online auction site. In particular, beware of counterfeit goods (sorry to say this but fake camera/computer/phone memory cards are prevalent
The best bit of advice I can give is to have a separate credit card that is dedicated to online purchases only that makes it easier to track any fraudulent goings-on.
Also, if the price looks too good to be true, then it probably is.
ive been ordering of the net for years now as its so much cheaper and easier to find what you want at the price you want too pay. i also have online banking which i check everytime after ive made a purchase on a website just too make certain everthings ok.
Don't get lulled into thinking the internet is always better......
I've been shopping around for a DVD one of the kids wanted. The cheapest I could find it online, or in either of the two supermarkets which are usually cheapest for DVD's was arond the £14-15 mark. I found it yesterday in Sainsbury's for a tenner!
I usually check prices online, but only buy online when I can't get it at that price on the high street.
I do a fair bit of internet shopping - especially at Christmas so I can save the browse around the real shops for the really difficult presents.
However, many sites will remember what you buy and make recommendations based on that. I bought my son a couple of D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) books from our favourite book/DVD site many years ago. I'm STILL seeing that type of thing being offered on the recommendations.
I am NEVER buying my Mum any Mills and Boon books from there for that very reason!!
The absolute BEST use of internet (ok apart from the sexy toys you can't pick up in Asda) was when I've been ill/injured and done my weekly shop online and had it delivered. Fabulous.
Depends what it is but i do like buying online... gotta be careful buying from the US though because of customs charges! Boy have I got stung with that a number of times!
Well i also do a lot of my shopping on the internet,,
i made the mistake of shopping on amazon, and now after nearly three grand of shopping,,im still shopping on there at least one a month..
And as for christmas,it is a easy surf round the internet and i know one things saves getting bumped and barged by other stroopy people ,fightimng to get what they want...
I buy on line some times, depends what I want and if I want to go round the shops or not first.
