hi folx, just thought I'd mention that punk is enjoying a rather good rebirth in stocport at the mo,due to a pub called the thatched house booking some brilliant old punk bands, vibrators, peter and the test tube babies, anti nowhere league etc, they do have a website with dates etc,as long as you don't have a problem mixing with bikers it's a brilliant pub with an excellent atmosphere, just when I thought I'd got over the first time round,I'm seeing em all again, might see some of you there sometime,uk subs playing in september

Next time you see the Testubes, tell Peter that Scoffa and Pete from Brighton send regards. And I'll see hin in the Oak. He will know what I mean. smile
Hi Brighton geezer were you around in the 70's. I remember when peter and the test tube babies used to be called the cornflakes lol Nicky and the dots, The Pirhanas and wrist action. Those were the days :)
redface
oh look you've made me blush.

Yep indeedy! Third year running here wink
Cathy x
bugger! had the chance to go too! they've sold out now haven't they?
went to reading 92,93,94,95. then went to leeds 2001 for just 1 day but you've gotta do the weekend or its not the same.
then after a 9year break (shit i'm gettin old) went back to reading. unfortunatly the people who i went with have 'grown up' now (unlike myself) and went to bed as soon as the bands stopped sad . so gone was the running around like idiots all weekend fueled on whatever  potion (if any)floats your boat.
however seeing that twat 5o cent getting booed and bottled was priceless.

i know
but i'm happy being sad though? lol
can't believe someone else remembers them.
maybe i'm not the only person with a knack or remembering totaly usless bits of music trivia?
especially on bands, unheard of at the time. confused:
well i remember them cause they was our local band, i'm not from the west mids just live here now lol

you've made my day biggrin
you've got me thinking though now. i'm sure i got a tape somewhere of their 'difficult' second album.
if i remember correctly though it was shite. mad
didnt they try and go serious on it. confused
 i'll let you know if i find it.
well to be fair they was a bit shite anyway wasn't they lol
but thats what u liked about them tho.....hey who knows what we thinking of as teenagers lmao

so bad they where good?
you would not believe the amount of crap i've bought.
whats worse is what music snob i became. me and a few of my mates where that obsessed with being into bands before anyone else. but then as soon as they sold more than 2 copies of an album, we'd deny ever liking them.
it makes me cringe to this day and if you gave me a pound for everytime i said.......
'the first album was best'.
still do it now! maybe i should see a shrink.
so if any of you have fallen foul to some twat who thinks he or she knows it all.
on their behalf may a say SORRY! cos from the ages of 17-21 i was one of those twats.
I've been into rock in a big way since i bought Guns N' Roses 'Appetite For Destruction' in 1988. Although i'm mellowing a little in my old age (but i've still got long hair!) my favourite bands include - The Cult, Sisters Of Mercy, The Mission, Sex Gang Children, All About Eve, Fields Of The Nephilim, Lacuna Coil, Marilyn Manson, Hole, Alice In Chains, Snake River Conspiracy, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Front 242, Tura Satana, Manhole, My Ruin, The Distillers, Iron Maiden and so on..... I'm always up for a chat about music....
were fairly new to this site. but we did think that us alternative types were a bit thin on the seem to be more than we thought.....yey!

Einsturzende Neubauten... now tell me.. is that industrial?..i dunno.. just love it..

my god, i thought nobody would have ever heard of these, they wern't so much industrial...as a whole blinking industrial estate....forget drums, guitars and keyboards...try chainsaws, lead steel pipe...but they were brilliant
here has anyone got a copy of the last of the teenage idols album i can pinch lmao
i'm serious been after it for years was never made as a cd so when i got shut of the old record player i couldn't listern to it no more
payment in kind :giggle:

Oh dear! Well I had the pleasure of supporting Wrathchild once, in a band I was in back in the '80s. They had stacks of marshall amps & cabinets up to the ceiling, but when you went behind them they were all empty. lol A bit like their music really.
LC
awww bless em lol i saw them at a farty little pub in mansfield and their stage was 2 beer crates and a plank of wood, again rather like their music lol
Well guess i'd better own up to being a rocker at heart lol
I've seen Iron Maiden twice ( 1984 Aberdeen and 1986 Donnington Rock Festival ) , Metallica ( 1996 Milton Keynes Bowl ) , Meat Loaf ( 1996 Aberdeen exhibition center ) , AC/DC ( 1996 Aberdeen exhibition center ) , Def Leppard ( Glasgow 1989 i think was pissed cant remember much rofl ) , Status Quo ( 1996 Aberdeen e c ) , RunRig 7 times ( all Aberdeen e c except once at Fraserburgh "leisure center" and they have to be one of the best live rock bands out there ).
After 1996 due to work , getting married , becoming disabled , seperating from ex-missus , moving back north ( like DUH idiot lol ) , etc i've not been to a proper concert ( cant stand for too long and the seating at concerts would kill my back ) BUT got really lucky as my local pub ( Balaclava Bar in Fraserburgh ) has rock bands on every friday and if its a holiday monday there's a band on the sunday too.
If you like rock music then if you get the chance see the following bands ...
Pie Shop : Aberdeen band play a lot of good rock from Led Zep thru Metallica to Busted , excellant band
Independance : Dundee band that are equal to Pie Shop but play more AC/DC , Pink Floyd type music with modern tunes too
Cojo Mary : yet another Brilliant band
All of these bands play some of the best live rock i've heard and thats saying something.
Davie ( rock on lol :borg: )
Anyone going to Donington then? Ha ha ha - imagine a Monsters Of Munch festival within a festival!!!! evil

So, no one's going to Donington then?
Well i'll be headbanging all weekend lol , got the local bikers annual booze and bands bash friday thru sunday so i'll not be sober except for saturday afternoon lol ( got to I run a wargaming club for teenagers 1st sat of the month , keeps the kids off booze and drugs and helps me put a little back into the community ).
6 bands ... cheap booze ( 75p for shorts and £1 a tin/bottle for lager / heavy / whatever lol ) ... lots of women wearing tight leather cool lol  getting their boobs out for no reason at all ( and like i'm going to complain lol ) and i'm going to be taking my proper digi camera with me this year for the 1st time so i might have some good pics lol.
