RPM, i dont think Munch Galleries are a 'numpty' idea - I used to love the old ones and seeing people just laughing and socialising together - and of course if you didnt go you could at least get some of the 'atmosphere' from the pics biggrin
but, its just one of those things were some people dont mind , some do, and for some its a big no no. So, the photographer has to ask everyone in the shot, then email those people 'proofs', then wait for permission to post, then either leave faces as are or play about in paint shop or similar blanking them out, then finally get round to posting them = have to be resized, uploaded ...see what i mean lol, and even then you can guarantee that someone will decide their arms look flabby or they're no longer friendly with the person they're sitting next to, or their bum looks big..... lol and want the pic removing.
'tis a proper little minefield this one , not to mention the issue of who gets copies, friends who show other friends, and 'oooooo have you seen XXXXXX ?? here's a pic'. Ok, so it might be a rare occurance - but it happens, and like Les says, alot of 'us' are profession-wise bound to a morality claus, one quick snap shot seen by the wrong person and its bye bye career wave

Have I missed something here?? As far as I know nothing too raunchy happens at a munch as such anyway.... surely not alot of difference to being in the background when in a normal bar or on holiday even!! I don't mind as such.....

Unless they were posted on this site as "photos from the munch" then anyone viewing the site could effectively see them.
Now again munches are a site organised event where everyone is vouched for and if anyone does have a camera, the usual practice is.
1) You ask permission of the people you are photographing.
2) You send a copy to the people in the pic if they so wish it.
3) If you are going to post them on the site, you pm them to ask permission and also check if they want their faces or any distinguishing features blurring e.g. tattoos.
4) If you can't identify people in the background, you crop the picture to edit them out or blur them out.
As others have said, there may be a minority 1% who wouldn't do this, but I don't necessarily think this would solve the problem.
If someone intentionally wanted to take pics without others knowledge, it would be very easily to hide a mobile phone with a camera on and do it discretely.
I think we all have a responsibility to be vigilent of such behaviour at munches or any event (sexual or social).
I have only been to 2 munches and as far as I am aware no-one has taken any photo's of me, but I have to say that I would be very cautious as to who I allow to take a photo of me anyway.
Having said that I really wish I did have some photo's just to remind me what great night's they were :lol2:
I dont have an answer but I would be happy if there was someone who was entrusted with the job of being the official SH photographer biggrin
I will admit to having taken 2 pictures with my mobile at the Wigan munch but the person being photographed was very much aware of it and they even posed for me..... The photo's have been sent to that person but I would never ever dream of passing them on to anyone else.... They are very good photo's though rotflmao
thanks for yr replies shireen and HLB..as eloquent as ever...

I forgot to say RWL..... Good thread
Thanks shireen..u know me..not serious too often but on this occasion i thought the subject matter warranted a decent discussion...its been brought up a few times at recent munches and coincided with what i had been thinking about the use of cameras at munches..hence opening it out to a wider audience for discussion..
u didnt know i could do serious stuff did you hahahahhaha

:lol2: I know you tend to be a bit of a piss taker which is why this thread was a bit of a shock :lol2:
I agree though, it does need to be discussed again. There have been a lot of new members and they perhaps wouldn't think about the issues surrounding taking photo's biggrin
I think the problem lies in the motivation of the person taking the picture. Even though a munch is as i understand it a social event, what is the point of having a photo of a bunch of people that I may never know ? to whom will that picture be shown to ? why would I want a picture of me in a pub ? who would I show it to ? Like other social events I have attended on a wide range of subjects, a picture only serves as a memento to that event. The only point of taking pictures in the context of swinging would seem to be of a voyeristic nature and I myself would not feel happy at some person masterbating over it !
This is really interesting as we are organising a munch for the first time & haven't thought about this. dunno what to do now? Maybe just one of the regulars should be in charge of a camera & with permission of others take some pics. We then would know exactly who has them instead of everyone clicking all night instead of :smoke:
edited to ask redwine-lover if he fancied bieng in charge of the camera for the yorks munch?
Pint in it for ya

Most of my photo albums are full of me and my Vanilla friends in nightclubs and pubs. We have always taken cameras out with us on a night out so wanting photos of a social event in a pub doesn't seem strange to me. It is just the bigger privacy issue that worries me.

Trouble with that is, are you then going to ask people not to bring mobile phones and frisk them on the way in? :dunno:
Ooh there's a thought - frisking :rascal: HLB wonders off to find some hunky door volunteers.
Disclaimer: That last bit was a joke

(b) any other mods (cos they have prob come across this before due to their experince)

RWL, I would have the same opinion if I was not a Mod :lol2:
I don't like cameras full stop. I have refused to have my picture taken at previous munches and had to be very firm in saying No.
I don't want to be caught in the back ground without knowing and I will ask anyone I see NOT to take pictures near me or I would move away.
I have nothing to hide, I am not embarrassed about being a swinger. However I do want control over where my pictures end up confused
I guess its the same old thing for me, consent as to where my pics end up or who is going to see them :?
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm i love a dominant womanhahaha mmwwwaahh dawnie..
so u sitting on the fence with yr reply then hahahha undecided as ever... lol

I have seen the use of cameras at various events and various reactions to it. Camera users are not just snapping for the family album, they have an agenda no matter how free and easy they come across. Some 'represent' various media and/or publications and often get away with a lot of front and 'official' status. That's often bollocks, they are just exercising their right to do what they chose to do in a 'public' event.
Seasoned swingers tend to turn up to the big events in masks so they are unrecognisable. So take that as a bit of advice if you want. Confrontations with snappers can get very heated and I have seen fights break out and cameras broken, films ripped out etc.
However there are some genuinely skillfull snappers and they at least catch you looking really good, if you want that. Which actually a lot of people do.
Although I like meeting up with friends and having pictures taken on nights out I'd vote for banning pictures to be taken at munches.
My profession wouldn't look at it favourably and it would make it harder for me to be employed, plus I've had pictures taken and not been offered the ENTIRE set of over five which I appear on, rather two or three to keep me quiet. I find this very rude and unacceptable.
I'd most deffinately vote in favour of no pictures taken at munches.

Certainly my sentiments exactly.
I have been to munches where individuals have been merrily snapping away with no thought of asking if it was ok, to seeing individuals surreptitiously taking photo’s.
I know of a number of individuals who hate having their photo’s taken, be that at a munch or even at a birthday party.
With technology being as it is, it will be so difficult to police, but certainly I for one would prefer no cameras at munches.

Pictures arent too bad if taken with no1 in the background and then they should be sent to the peeps on them for their use only
General clicking of the cam should not be allowed in any circumstances......i for one dont like my picture being taken as i dont know whose hands they will fall into

I once had a film that was developed but the photos were not printed. I also got a stern letter from the company. Which was a bit embarassing when I turned up at the shop to get them. The mature woman behind the counter gave a sleazy smirk as she handed me the wallet.
