As with most other things I’m bloody useless at this, I tend to take people at face value until they prove me wrong, by which time its usually too late and the damage has been done rolleyes
Mrs. Pete on the other hand astounds me, not just in the life style but in RL as well, the amount of times I have brought someone home and when they have left she says something like, hmmmm not sure about him, something not right, and I’m thinking wtf  he seems like a really nice guy.
Every single time within a few weeks she’s proved right.
Even online, example:
We have been in contact with quite a few of the single fems in the photo ads exchanged pm’s and finaly got onto msm, sometimes within minutes of chatting she’ll say, “this is a feckin bloke”
I’m like  htf do you know that? you’ve only been chatting for a few minutes ffs.
So then the litmus tests are applied, do you have a cam, ring the misus for a quick chat etc. and sure enough, all the old excuses are trundled out, sorry cams broke, don’t like to chat on the phone, we have no pics blah di blah.
I got so fed up with one of them, in the end I said, you’re a bloke aint ya?
Yep lol came the quick reply never to be seen again.
How the hell she does it is beyond me, I;m not shure she knows herself, someone said instinct, I think you must be right, you’ve either got it, or you aint.
imho
Maybe it's a woman thing dunno
I can nearly always tell if it's a man or a woman typing in the chatroom... I have only been wrong once wink
I cant explain it Jags... It's just gut instinct dunno

Often just instinct.

I would have said instinct
We can't always get it right but I do tend to go by instinct a lot of the time confused
Yep - I agree. However 'instinct' is a learnt reaction to certain signals which, when interpreted by the brain add to something recognisable, in this case 'fake'. I'm interested in what constitutes the 'instinct'.
:P
Yes but doesn't the mere fact that one describes it as instinct, mean that it is indefinable. Angelica has almost infallible instinct worship she's almost invariably right about people - so accurately so that I'll take a lead from her if she's firm about it - but she can't say why.
I also think that some people rely on instinct but they in fact have unreliable judgement and therefore misjudge people just as unaccountably.

isnt this a little like the thread on spotting a toupe?

i made a mistake posting it in here.........oops. and thought id edited this one and fecked that up too.........
see i coulnd even spot the right post....... what chance do i have of spotting a fake orgasm!!!!
as for spotting fakers, liars, bullshitters, hustlers, wronguns, ne'eer do wells and no-goods and other general riff-raff.......... im pretty darn good at it..........
im also good at catching people out...... but i can see ure good at that too..........
Well, I TOTALLY misread what Jags said in the first post, was wondering why people would have nasty brown smelly stuff on their hands and faces..... my apologies.
Apart from that (and enough said on that for one day methinks!), I agree with the opinions of everyone really, in particular Blue and Darkfire's comments, there just tends to be a niggly feeling that rings away in the back of your mind.....
I had the very feeling when I first met my brother's future wife-to-be. I was berated for saying that I didn't like her one bit and there was something about her that just wasn't right. Unfortunately, no-one else could see it, not until my brother married her and it turned out she just wanted his money! The marriage lasted less than a year, and she never did get his money, or any real entitlement to his pension. Lucky escape if you ask me!
I have spent many years learning facial expressions and body language by rote, whether it be cognitive behavioural therapy or nuero linguistic programming or personal experiences, so I tend to watch people very carefully and consider their behaviour on a logical level, rather than relying on instinct.
The thing I have discovered about people is usually (there are always exceptions) people wear their souls on their face. People can smile and say the right things but really it is very difficult to hide who you truly are and stop is showing in your demeanour/face/eyes.
I am a very trusting person because I prefer to give people a chance rather than view all people as potentially harmful to me - I'm much happier living that way. However these days I feel that I can look at somebody and 'sense' if they are a real wrongun. I don't know how but I have just learnt. I'm not talking about the people who might slag you off once in a while or tell you a white lie, I mean bad people.
I also noticed it mentioned before about consistency being factor. With my Aspergers I find consistency very comforting and a need. I notice the tiniest inconsistency in somebody’s 'story' or behaviour, I can't help it and sometimes it's a curse. When I was younger it used to throw me into turmoil because I hated not knowing where I stood or what the 'rules' were, but now I have learnt which consistencies are important and those that aren't. Therefore I am drawn to consistent people and find having any sort of relationship with a 'flaky' person nearly impossible.
I seem to have gone off on a tangent but there was an answer to the question in there somewhere. lol
